Cicatrices de la Fe

Good morning from Mexico City. There is an exhibit currently in Mexico City of art from the missions of northern Mexico called Cicatrices de la Fe. It is at the ex-Jesuit Colegio de San Ildefonso, whch is behind the Templo Mayor, and will run through August 16. It then goes to San Antonio, Texas. There are pieces from Baja California missions, such as a Santo Entierro from Loreto. It is worth seeing, but the problem is little context. There is a video of thee fiesta at San Francisco Xavier in Baja California, which curiously shows the Yaqui deer dance without explaining that the Yaqui were not indigenous to Baja California.

They don't allow cameras, but there is a catalog and there will be a catalog for the showing in San Antonio.

That sounds so interesting----wish we were there. We are also missing that part of Mexico a lot.

Thanks
Diane
