Someone with a viable track record is trying to assuage some of the pain from lost investment, arrange payment for work done, complete some of the
already started homes, re-employ some 400 workers, and generally bring about a reasonable solution to a major local problem. I can't find anything
particularly funny in that. Maybe Cabo Ron can edify me.

Actually, if you read the article, all it says is that the Beck construction company is trying to get the people at Nopolo who already paid for the
costruction of the homes -- and got ripped off -- to now pay Beck even more money to complete them. It does not take a financial genius to figure out
that the only people benefitted by the plan are Beck and the workers. Even further, nothing in the plan does anything to get the amenities completed.

To follow what is going on at Nopolo this website may be informative. They are in the business of construction, so the slant may be a little rosy at
times, but in hindsight they have been right on so far.

The 100 homeowners referred to in the Radar article may be asked to put up additional money to finish what they were told was already paid for, but
the alternative is to walk away from their initial investment and their retirement dreams.
I'm rooting for Beck, or someone, to bring about some sane denouement to the mess where we are now. To suppose that somehow Nopolo will magically
return to pristine coastal desert is absurd. The native vegetation has been scraped away, the tiny layer of viable soil with nutrients has blown away,
and if left alone the area will become a 100-acre dust bowl with concrete sticking up here and there. A scaled back development looks to me like the
way forward. Beck et al at least appear to be making a move in that direction.

Jesse, because we live across the street from the mayor, I can tell you that he does look like a rock star, and that numerous fans visit his house
daily.
We've known him since before he hit the big time. He's a nice guy.
