New Pavement into Asuncion...Dirt road graded today!!

In preparation for the Traditional Fiestas which open tomorrow Aug.12-17 the remaining 7 miles of dirt road is being graded and the newly paved part of the highway is OPEN!!! wooo hooo. Watch out for pronghorn antelope on the road though.
They graded both roads in...even the "whoopdy doo" one.

But since the road goes both ways, I'm sure that many in Asuncion will be thrilled that they can go where they need to go faster.

you got THAT right....not that faster matters...but everyone here is sick of using their whole paycheck for car repairs!!! People HAVE to spend alot to get a decent truck that will handle the washboard...then they break down all the time plus tire repair...really...much of thier hard earned cash goes to vehicle repair and maintenance. Lots of people are dreaming about the cars they will buy when the road is done...real cars...not pick ups.

:yes::yes::yes:

Not only faster, but with less damage to their vehicles and supplies.

For many supplies, to catch a bus, etc., they need to travel to Vizcaino---long trip and even longer on dirt.

We do know a couple of people here who are not happy about the pavement, but they are the exception.

It it the difference between wanting little or no change from the perspective of a tourist, but it is different when you live here at least part of the time and get to know the people and their wants and needs.
