Calico and yellowtail on one lure in Asuncion!

Our amigo Kevin called me today from his kayak to tell me to bring my camera to the beach...I love it when that happens!

Today Kevin had high hopes for catching his first yellowtail from his Hobie pedal kayak. The water is crystal clear and 80 degress now and sure enough we see him struggling to gaff something out in front of our house.

turns out he had a double hook up...on ONE lure....the 15 lb yellowtail was on the front treble hook of the purple rapalla and a calico hitched a ride up on the back hook!!! cool eh.
Kevin was a very happy hombre and we will BBQ that baby this afternoon.

Congratulations Kevin....That was an amazing catch. Get a picture framed. If you want a laugh, get Shari to show you the pic of my catch in the high sierra last week. (we did not take photos of the really little ones).

Glad the big storm tirned into a kitten before getting to you.

Happy catching!

I don't know how come it is, but I do know something similar happening many years ago when my little sister out fished me.

We were trout fishing. She was too little to cast so I would do it and let her reel in. She hooked one and struggled to reel it in all by herself. Suddenly the pole bent over even more and I figured the fish had gotten into the weeds. She kept cranking though and finally pulled in a nice trout.

And then another even nicer trout.

The larger of the 2 had been hooked by someone else and had broken the line with 4' or 5' of leader still attached to the Super Duper lure. Somehow this leader had gotten wrapped around my sister's line and she ended up catching 2 fish with only 1 hook on her line.

I think the world is run by C- students.

It is common in Bahia Asuncion! Well, not really the same lure, but certainly the same cast!

How cool is that!! Double your pleasure, double your fun!

I've had a bigger one take a smaller one, but never two on one plug!

I'll bet that yellowtail towed Kevin! We want details.

Salud!

Looking forward to seeing you and Tim---and I love the picture of you----GREAT smile, and frankly, I like the outfit---tis all about comfort.:yes:

We took this picture from our front porch-- Kevin peacefully fishing in his kayak

Can't wait to see him flying by being pulled by a 40 or 50lb yellowtail. It could be one wild ride.

HI Shari, I hope to have a beer with you next trip. I fished and spent one night last trip with Paul. 3 halibut in the surf out of 20 cast.

Two fish on one lure is nothing.

My wife once caught 2 fish on one hook!!!! And it wasn't a treble hook, either.

Although I'll admit they weren't yellowtail.
