It varies by area...they started already in some areas. Here in Asuncion it starts the 1st of October but I think they started in the GN lagoon
already because they close the season during whale season.

I left Laguna Manuella just north of GN this past Wednesday the 16TH and they had their traps stacked up all ready to take out and drop in the water
so it must be very soon.
Was wondering how long we'd have to wait till we could buy some.
Just do it!

Heard from the Mexican equivalent of the Fish and Game, at the end of July this year, that some areas will be in a full ban on lobster fishing this
season to allow thew population to recover from over fishing. We were camped in the area between Faro San Jose and Punta Blanca. I do not know the
limits on the moratorium.

we saw the lobster boats from Bahia Tortugas out working today...they started lobster season Sept.15.
Luckily our area has always been serious about protecting their product and adhere to the limits and are very very strict about not taking undersize
and poaching.

One of the local "lobster guys" dropped off a couple of very small lobsters yesterday to a friends house. I didn't see him to ask about the season
dates but it's entirely feasable that they were caught out of season.
So damn sad that they keep such small creatures that will never have a chance to reproduce.
Just do it!

doesnt matter if they are in or out of season...if they are small, they are illegal...in a perfect world, we would say no thank you and explain in a
nice way that we support conservation of the species and indicate that they are undersize....smiling all the while.
but sometimes if they are already dead...the fisherman will gift them to someone he likes instead of throwing them away.
Here the coop makes fishermen measure each suspect small lobster and will fine them if there is a small one in their catch.

It does matter if it's in, or out, of the season. Everything is off limits, out of season. Many small, and damaged, or dead lobsters are handed out at
the end of a day of pulling traps during the season. There is no sence in throughing them back as chum.

I ment that lobster damaged, or dead, in the traps are treated the same, large or small.

they used to give the coop fishermen lobster that had the legs eaten off them while in the holding traps as they couldnt sell them like that....until
they found out some were ripping the legs off nice ones so they could keep them.....
give an inch......
so now they dont give them away anymore...dang.
