Old Jeep Ad, Nov. 1963
As I am going through the boxes of papers and magazines that once belonged to Choral Pepper, I am finding many things that may be interesting to some
of you.
Here is an ad from the November, 1963 issue of Sunset Magazine for the NEW Jeep Wagoneer.
This happens to be the same vehicle that was our family's first Baja vehicle, in 1965... It was also white and looked just like this one!

Not much a Warn Winch is going to do for you in the case of tire slippage. Chrome won't get you home. Neither will bald street-biased tires in wet,
in climate weather.

I think in another couple of feet when his right front tire goes over them rocks he'll need a parachute.

These Wagoneers were great rides back in the day..
Our 1978 model was used around Loreto, including this trip up the old road to San Javier..
Later on it was eventually retired to Rancho Notori south of town for use on the ranch

Looks like a 'Cherokee Chief', Kris... Which was in essance a 2 door Wagoneer... same body otherwise... and the Chief package used the truck axels
and wide wheel wells... I had one...
Colorado Dude and Ken Cooke, that ad was for Warn's autimatic locking hubs... showing that in some situations you can't manually get out to lock your
hubs! My dad had added the auto locking hubs on his Wagoneer.

My Father raved about his Jeep Wagoneer when he bought his in 1984 to pull a travel trailer across the continental U.S. and hit the more remote
campgrounds in Colorado for fishing and family adventure. Those were some good times.

I know this isn't the right place to post this but it seemed appropriate.
I've owned this Jeep for 25 years. I've been over Black Bear pass twice, the length of Baja and more Baja back country trips than I could count. It
was my daily driver up until about 5 years ago and it has been a great vehicle. It is here in Buena Vista and I need to pass it on. I brought a
vehicle down more to the liking of my beautiful wife and have nowhere to keep it. If anybody could use a good vehicle it is available for sale.....dt
This picture was taken at the Motel Linda in Catavina a couple of years ago when I drove it down to use as our Baja vehicle, as I recall we met the
Trotters and their dogs that day....dt

I just got back from a month in India. I was amazed at the Jeeps available there. They have bought the tooling for the CJ3B high hood and the CJ5.
They're all over the place, and they are cheap at about $3,000 to $4,000 U.S. But they are generally two wheel drive.

In Barranquilla, Colombia I saw YJs (a plenty), and some CJ Flatties. In Bogota, I spotted a silver TJ X - stock, but similar to my lifted, locked
& outfitted Rubicon. But, the predominate 4WDs in both cities were Nissan Patrol's, Suzuki Samurai's and Toyota LandCruisers.
