In Praise of the Taqueros - Tacos al Puebla

In Mexico, restaurants, taco stands and other food service establishments often have very confusing schedules – open late or don’t open at all.

The small village of Primo Tapia is on our regular route to Rosarito for errands and shopping, and this small taco shop has been a regular stop over the years. They are open 24-7, and I have seen the stand open and busy on Christmas Eve.

The rotating cast of young taqueros sometimes look like they just came out of incarceration, with jail tats visible.

Whatever, the food handling is good and the cashier always puts on a plastic cover to handle the money.

Carne asada is served in tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas. am in the late afternoon, the trompa is up, serving adobada in any form you wish until it is all gone.

Good food, simply and freshly prepared and always great when reheated the next day because you bought too much to eat at one sitting.

Tacos Manuel in Rosarito is open 24/7. They were the only stand that I could find open on New Years day 2 years ago.
