Free Road South from Rosarito
Yesterday, we were out late and returned in the dark from Playas de Tijuana.
The free road south of Rosarito is very confusing - little to no lane stripes or Bott's dots and the street lights blind, rather than help.
There are several severe cut-offs without a pull off area due to the highway construction.
In summary, right now, the free road south of Rosarito for fifteen miles is extremely dangerous at night.

Drink more at Ruben's and the road is less scary.

Dear Gull
Ruben's at Las Gaviotas is closed.
Ruben's Palm Grill is open.
We do not go there anymore.

Jan, don't go to the closed one, go to the open one.
What's wrong with a few different drunks at the new place?
You get the old Canatamar Palms drunks and also you get the usual LG a-holes who used to think walking across the street was "getting out among the
people".
Rib eye steak, baked potato, veggies and black bean soup all for $7.50. All that and twofers!!!! What's wrong?

My wife and I drove the free road
south of Rosarito toward La Mision about a dozen times this year...and so far we have not found it any more dangerous (day or night) than the rest of
Baja roads. Yes there are some bridges being widened to match the rest of the four lanes (as far south as Cantamar), but where in Baja has there been
[safety cones or other warning devices) designating construction ahead. All we have ever seen are the signs that say "TRAMO EN REPARACION", even when
the work is already finished.

Once I was eating chicken dinner at that place behind "Virgins" and a c-ckroach ran across the bar, long and short of it, it was a bad dining
experience,

If one chooses to be out at night, then one should be familiar with the roads they travel especially when there is a toll road running next to it so
if you are unfamiliar with the free road use the well traveled toll road. We use the free road as we are familiar with it, it is not dangerous between
Rosarito & La Mision, but the drivers may be if they are not familiar with it.

Food is so so there and prices are to high. There is a special for the day for $5.95 but you get very little food for that. The place is nice and
service was fine but not worth driving from Rosarito.
