Interesting article about Mexico and it's prosecution of the "war on drugs".

The reporter seems to be leaning a lot on the negative aspects of the military, almost like pushing for a story that may or may not be there. I don't
doubt theres plenty of problems, theres idiots everywhere that will do ilegal things, but overall, the military is doing a good job. He could have
written the story sitting in his office 2,000 miles away, old news.

The reporter, Philip Caputo, is a HIGHLY respected journalist and it's doubtful he would write anything without extensive research.
Nor is it his first time writing about Mexico.

Jesse - I remember you predicting 8 or 10 years ago that the military would step forward and take charge of some of Mexico's ongoing/endemic problems
- I don't recall that you ventured as to what degree - as in an actual coup. I think the theme back then was narco stuff - but I could be wrong. I
think you called it pretty well - things are still evolving.
Your english has gotten alot better since then - do you have a gringa girl friend or something?

This sounds so much like what happened in Turkey. Their military intervened on more than one occasion to protect the idea of secular governance.
Unfortunately, history keeps repeating itself. Thus, an Islamic leaning government again. People be people.
