Cross-border shoppers get Mexican duty warning
We saw on the TJ news last night that Mexico is enforcing the $150 per person maximum. This warning seemed especially targeted at Tijuaneros who shop
at the Plaza de Americas outlet stores and walk back across into Mexico. Shoppers can either pay the high duty/penalty- or return the items and walk
back across again.
Same story mentioned that a ban on importing your Christmas tree from the USA into Mexico has been changed from a total ban to them now allowing ONE
tree per vehicle.

Obviously, the one thing you can count on is inconsistency.

I'm not sure how close they are screening walk across traffic at Otay. The warning I saw was geared towards the outlet mall at the border. I guess
they want tijuaneros to shop in Mexico this holiday season- fat chance.

Tijuaneros? I think you mean Tijuanenses? Although I suppose if one was going to TJ to go out on the town, he could be a Tijuanero.
I wonder if they are going to have the duty-free deal for returning Mexicans during the month of December, like they usually do.

Do you have to take them back to the same store you bought them from?
