camping San Felipe
Heading for San Felipe, can anyone tell me a good campground there. Heading south but would like to spend a few days there. Would like to be on the
beach. Have a truck camper. Thx.

I would suggest south of town. There are many - 20? - a mile or two from each other. You'll see the signs - drive down the sandy road and see what
appeals to you. Shouldn't be too many other people wherever you go.

To improve the assistance here:
What services (if any) do you want at the campground? Do you want to be 'in town' or just within a 20 mile radius... etc.?
Is your truck camper 4WD? Have you driven is soft sand before?

I go with Petes Camp,, this is just north of town,, great beach camping,, resturant bar showers

Petes camp the one and only. Hot showere little palapas at each campsite and you can hook up a RV I think. We just camp on the beach totally safe.

Hello,
Does anyone know if Petes Camp has electrical hookups for RV's?
I'm planning on heading down to the SF area the first week of April and would also like some suggestions for RV "friendly" Parks. I've viewed the RV
websites David K listed above but it hasn't helped my decision making.
I have a 34ft RV and would like to be on the beach and need the site to have electrical hookups, need to keep the Wife happy. I have two children and
would like them to feel safe while playing on the beach and swimming in the Sea of Cortez.
I'm assuming the "college party atmosphere" reputation of San Felipe will be virtually non-existant in April due to the current political and economic
situations facing Baja?

the last time I camped at Petes Camp was mabye 5 years ago, we camped on the beach,, no hook ups,
your question on April with spring break.
maybe American students will not be down as much as in the past,, but it has really been a big draw for mexican students,
I know for a fact,, as I thought the same thing 2 years ago when we went to SF and then to Gonzaga

My favorite camp in SF is Ruben's, at the north end of town. (About 1/3 mile from the light house and on the same road.) It's very quiet, full
hookups, very nice restaurant, beachfront spots with an upper palapa, and the best cocolocos in the universe!

I like Punta Estrella, if you like privacy, it's only a few miles from town..

Pete's camp would be hard to beat. But, it can sometimes have a big party atmosphere with lots of noise into the night. But, just join in and sleep
in later.

Wow... I'll say... If you want to camp in an Animal House-like atmosphere!
I'll take Shell Island or Nuevo Mazatlan anyday over camping in town or at Pete's on a holiday or Poker Run weekend!

Rueben's is a great place. Right next to his cousins, Kiki's. Its my understanding the reatuurant at Ruebens has been closed for a long time now...too
bad the garlic shrimp dinners were the best!!! Can't wait to go back...wish the violence would disapear.

We don't have any violence in San Felipe! Another great place to camp on the beach with full hookups is Playa Bonita, it is next to Kikis. Punta

That is not true
Didnt you hear about the guy and his girlfriend who came to San Felipe from San Diego for the long weekend and were murdered?
Its true. They left for SF and when the gals husband found out he followed them down to SF. He killed them and himself.
The headlines read:
3 Americans killed in San Felipe Mexico
Personally, I think more americans die from food and booze

Man, What happened to the good ol days of camping in San Felipe?
Ya know... getting your vehicle gone through as soon as you went in swimming. Local dudes eyeballing your girlfriends. Faces watching you from the
tops of sand dunes only to duck down when you looked over.
No fees though.
