Bob,

I have another home in Alpine CA just east of San Diego. I live there part of the time and Baja part of the time. If you would like to rent it PM me. Deposit is $300 dollars and is refundable as long as the place is clean when people leave. My Partner Naty takes care of all the trash bags for you.

Paved road to within 1/4 mile of the house and then its a dirt road. 2wd will make it. There are more improvements that have been made after the pics. A large parking area to the right holds up to 6 cars now.

Obviously if there was an architect, which I doubt, there would be a different motif here. That said, and I completely understand that money may have been an issue, but you might have actually been able to pull it off with the castle motif, if you didn't go with all those cheap windows. Then, inside, you have a bunch of patio furniture, complimeted by resin chairs and couches from an inner city swapmeet. Hey. If it was all about building a space that you could rent to large numbers of people who only wanted to get drunk, swim and fish, kudos!

I am the arkutek. I designed it and had it built to my specs. the walls are 8inches thick and the roof is built into the concrete to prevent it from ever blowing off from high wind. Its designed for me and my family of 4 kids and my friends to come in and have a great time and not worry about stupid stuff like

"theres so much sand on my marble floor, whatever shall we do lovey....(thurston howell)

I will call extreme home makeover and let them know I plucked up the "motif" of my castle by furnishing it wrong.

As far as getting drunk, swimming and fishing when Im in baja...well you got me on that one.:P

That slider is designed to access the balcony I will be building off of he second floor. The entire top of the large tower is a master bedroom.

But for now its a doorway to pain!!

I like the castle. I wish I could get enough friends to go south to make the rental worth while. Are there good dirt biking trails nearby?

Crenulations are a common motif in Mexican architecture. Frank Lloyd Wright probably never used them but, Barrigán might have.
I give the design an A+ for not showing one stinking over-used arch.
Raise the rent. At that price, the locals will want it for a fish camp hangout.

I looked at the photos again. While I still think that different windows would have made a big difference in the overall appearance, at least for me, this place looks like Death Valley meets the Sea of Cortez. Think Scotty's Castle.
