Last Moonset of 2009

I was waiting for Russ or Pompano to post their sunrise photos and figured someone would post the moonset this morning...well, I hoped for spectacular and got up early to be ready for it but some clouds got in the way...oh well...it was a gorgeous morning nonetheless. Not a great photo but gives you the idea.

Thanks Shari! I thought of the sunrise posting this AM but it was such a non event I missed it. When I sat at the computer this morning the moon shone through the window for awhile and I also forgot it. Hope my memory improves in 2010.....

Once in a blue moon you get moonsets like that.

Is it true that it set beneath the horizon a few minutes before that photo was taken?

the best time to take a moonset picture is the night before the full moon...it's pinker but I missed it so that morning I planned to be up for it but it was a bit cloudy which is very rare here....anyway...I'm glad i got it anyway on my new christmas camera....and was humming blue moon all the while

Thanks, Shari. Beautiful. The extreme tides over New Years let us harvest clams with the locals (Shhhh, it wasn't illegal as we were working for them).

oh yeah, those low tides were beautiful and kept the vigilancia busy protecting the abalone beds here from all the holiday visitors.
We too picked some mussels to BBQ! so yummy

Ken, my other brother got me an Olympus E520....nice to be able to change lenses, have a better zoom and wider angle and have more options but it's taking some getting used to and wont fit in my purse!!
It's been fun playing around with it on all our beach days.
