AK-47, 35 bullets, close or identical number shot at the student earlier in the week who also was killed. Horrible.

Wasn't there a "you don't go after their families" understanding back in the day...?

Another level of the intensity of this cartel war. If one cared about the safety of his family, he/she should not get involved in the drug trade. Is anyone of these drug cartel people happy? Is it worth it? I'd rather live in a thatch roofed hut in Guatamala and watch the sunset in peace than live the kind of life they've created for themselves. They created their own hell and they can change things if they want to.

I think the underlying problem is how wealth is attained in Mexico. No family becomes uber-rich in Mexico and stays totally "clean" on all levels. It's just not possible. If not the narcos, it's the unions and politicians with their hands constantly out. The financial corruption became institutionalized.

This is really all about money, corruption, power and jealousy- who has it, how they got and and how hard they will fight to keep it. Just like every war. isn't it?

"Three of their classmates at La Mesa high school told The Associated Press Thursday at least one of the victims was a known drug dealer who frequently missed classes and sometimes peddled narcotics at or near the school. The students asked not to be identified for fear of reprisal. "

Mexico is far from alone in having a deep-rooted and historic culture of corruption. The epidemic of guns, especially assault-style weapons is a far greater problem. Corruption, as a part of life long before AK-47s came along.

Dead teenagers will stop when:
1) teenagers stop peddling dope;
2) when all the narcos are dead; or
3) when Americans stop abusing third world countries by making them slaves to American illegal drug consumption.

Meanwhile, stay indoors.

Individuals in the cartels should be allowed tax deductions for every one of their own they do away with.
These are acts of humanity of the highest nature.
