No Gas at Gonzaga Pemex (Gonzaga/Alfonsinas/Rancho Grande)
I rolled through the Gonzaga area on Sunday (Jan 17th) and there was no gas at the Pemex, and no estimate as to when this might change. On later
talking to Coco, he said that they had dropped the keys down into the tank and this caused the pump motor to burn out. No idea as to the validity of
this or when they may have gas (or the ability to pump it) again. Plan your trips accordingly.
On a side note, it 'looks' like the Puertecitos Pemex has gas from roughly 8AM-12PM and 3PM to 8PM, although I did not verify this, it just appeared
that they were doing gas business now. I left there too early to gas up and foolishly neglected to fill up when I rolled in during the evening.
Luckily my San Felipe gas lasted me to BOLA without having to dip into my reserve cans nor buy gas at the BOLA turnoff.
Anyone have newer updates on these gas situations?

Hi Casey... the Gonzaga Pemex belongs to Alfonsina's... Rancho Grande (across the road and a bit south) has a private gas pump and 'usually' sells gas
anytime the Pemex is closed/ out of gas. This is to not conflict with the national socialized gasoline sales law.
So, when you say 'No gas at Rancho Grande'... but are talking about the Pemex, I am wondering ifyou also asked for gas at Rancho Grande...?
Thank you for the report and times for Puertecitos' Pemex. Seems they observe a generous 'siesta time' break, there!
How far was the pavement and 'new' roadbed unpaved, south of Puertecitos/ El Huerfanito...?

Sorry to confuse the geography/town/area names. I mean the Pemex there out front of Alfonsinas.
Rancho Grande (the store/restaurant) only had scant questionable gas according to three motorcyclists headed the other way (north) and desperate for
fuel.
I got paved road for about 10km north of Puertecitos, and while the pavement continued beyond what I could see, a detour sign and road cones pushed me
onto the 'tire eating road' for the rest of the way to HWY1. On that ~10 km there was one detour around a bridge that was actively being completed.
Luckily no tires were sacrificed to the gods that day.

Don't know, sorry. I'm not even 100% sure he was selling gas, possibly only cigarettes and oil for all I know, but I saw the big cardboard sign with
the hours, and an attendant near the pump when I went by to grab a campsite near the hot-springs. Next time I'll buy gas right away if I see someone
at any Pemex rather then waiting until the next morning and realizing I'm ready to roll at 6AM and it's not open until 8AM. With 30 extra liters (~8
gallons) in cans up on the roof I decided not to wait. I won't be back to Puertecitos until roughly March/April/May.
