82 year old American found bound and gaged in Rosarito

ROSARITO, Baja California (PH) Bound hands and feet with electric cords and gagged with a bandage, an a 82 year old American, was held in his home for more than a day while a thieves took their time robbing him. A young couple arrived at the property Thursday afternoon and saw his car take off at full speed with an unknown person driving. They notified authorities. He was freed shortly after by the fire and rescue who had to break locks to get into the house.

Paramedics indicated that even tough his health was stable, he presented with various lesions caused by the bindings and the hits he received when being subdued by his attackers. He was treated by the Red Cross and then transferred to the General Hospital.

At this time no one has been arrested. Source, La Frontera on line.

I have edited and re-posted this under this new thread...

Did you read the comments posted under this story?

How can anyone defend Rosarito when the crime news coming out of it is blocked from the USA media? They have formally been threatened not to issue "security alerts". How many crimes like this happen every day? Every minute? We do not know and will not know- yet they want us to come to Rosarito Beach to buy houses, condos and eat lobster!

I did read about that poor old lady and saw her on the Today show. The thugs who did this to her knew her, were caught and received two life sentences- not roaming free as these criminals are now among us in Rosarito. Maybe if this man's story was on the Today show- things in Rosarito would change. As long as Rosarito is a tourist destination for Americans- visitors should have access to the information they need to decide FOR THEMSLEVES what is safe, not Mayor Torres.

No worries for Rosarito- Sandra Dibble and the UT won't report this either! She said she was interested in and would report any crime directed specifically at Americans/tourists in Rosarito Beach, but is not true to her word. The proof is that nothing has been printed about the carjackings and this man's confinement.

Journalist's lives are threatened too. Many have been killed. The border is not any protection for U.S. Reporters, especially with San Diego being so close to the border. How unfortunate that the media is so intimidated and constrained by thugs.:(

I'd like to railroad spike their collective nuezes to a stump... and... Well you get the picture. No need to get too graphic in here with children present. Tasering would be way too lenient!

By thugs- you must mean the Rosarito Beach propaganda machine that actively suppresses these stories. Thank God this man had good neighbors who noticed his truck leaving without him and called the police! Good neighbors are your best security.

The UT should just print a disclaimer:

"We have been ordered by Mexico not to report any crimes against Americans that occur in Rosarito Beach. Please refer to the Tijuana and Mexican media for information about crimes against Americans".

Sounds like Torres hand-picked her for the baja-beat. A perfect match for deception. He translates for her and she prints nothing. figures. Who gets to write the letter to the editor this time? It can't be my turn again already...

She's a competent reporter with the right subject matter (baja toilet water recycling, etc). I just don't think crime reporting or going against the flow is her thing. She's certainly not an investigative journalist- she only reports when verifiable facts are laid out plainly before her- she digs and probes no further.

Her last crime story on that narco-convoy moving through town on a Sunday afternoon when the kids 4-wheeling were shot to death was not a good piece of journalism to be sure.
