Architects in Baja

Hello Fellow Nomads...

My husband and I have a 2- story house in San Antonio Del Mar (near Colonet), which we had built in 2003/2004. The type of construction is called the EFIS system... basically steel studs/joists, with a Georgia Pacific DensGlass Gold exterior sheathing (I'm sure you've all seen this "yellow board" used in various projects in CA and Baja as well). The finish coat is a thin stucco.

We have a concrete slab walkway and patio area which abuts the house consisting of approximately 330 s.f. that we wish to enclose creating a 1 story addition, however we would prefer to have this area enclosed using concrete block w/ stucco finish (as opposed to the EFIS system), with a deck on the roof.

We are hoping some of you may know architects in Baja who are familiar with both types of construction and how these two different materials can be joined. We feel that almost anyone could build this if an architect were to develop construction drawings detailing how all this would be accomplished.

Any input, suggestions, advice would be immensely appreciated.

Linda

Did you try Carlos Urrea at his real estate office at the entrance of SADM?

No, but thanks for his name... I'll ask a friend who lives there full time to see if he can get a phone number for him.

Thanks.

He has a mail link on his real estate website. He is the nicest guy, has great contractors/engineers and knows how to do business properly. I trust him 100% and I don't say that about too many contractors on either side of the border. If you ask him how his white lab puppy is doing- he'll know where the referral came from. ;)
