FM2 and foreign vehicle
Does anyone know what the regulations are regarding FM2 holders driving a foreign plated vehicle?
I drove my 2003 Honda down months ago, and since then I've received my FM2. Wondering what the best plan would be:
1) Get my car NOB asap
2) Find a way to legally import it
3) register it with ONAPAFFA
Any thoughts?

It's OK as long as you have a foreign DL as well. Can't drive it on a Mexican license but, I'm sure you know all that stuff.

you cant import it either
when importing a car it needs to be in the usa and
it HAS to be the correct year
onapaffa is only for mexicans
its a political issue for them
you do need a mexican drivers license
get that at the police station
that station has to have the "License machine"

i'd be careful
i've talked to ALOT of import people
when you have an fm2 you are a permanent resident and need a mexican license
you won't find out till you get in trouble...then its time to pay

Nonsense. It's no more required than the Mex license. It isn't a requirment for anything.
US plated cars are yours if you reside in any part of Baja Norte and if you have this situation, you are protected. There is no way an owner
/operator of a US plated car will be required to change anything in Baja Norte. No ***ing way.

You are NOT a permanent resident until you have completed the required years of FM2 and applied for and received permanent residency. I have gone
through immigration and customs in Sonora with a FM2 and US plated vehicle with no problems.

When did the police start asking for immigration docs during a traffic stop?

Basic rule of thumb.....Mexican plates, Mexican license...U.S. plates, U.S. license.....why look for trouble??
Mexico!! Where two can live as cheaply as one.....but it costs twice as much.....

Thanks for the replies!
So it sounds like it is probably not required to have a Mexican license & plates on an FM2 until one reaches Immigrado status..... as long as one
doesn't go showing off your FM2 status to the Federales.
