Interesting Opinion by Roman Revueltas Retes

After a recent meeting of presidents from Latin American countries it was decided that there would be a formation of a new regional bloc of nations of the Western Hemisphere that excludes the USA and Canada.

Here is an opinion piece in reaction to that decision.

Felipe Calderon is the worst president in a long time, and thats saying a lot considering the caliber of presidents we have had. He just keeps making all of these stupid and useless moves that baffle everybody.

Here's a Google translation of the article. Have fun:

Let's see what country, between all the world, gives support, home and work for the millions of Mexicans who are not in their own homeland, no justice or opportunity or welfare or safety or anything? What country buys, our farmers, industrialists and entrepreneurs, that is, to our workers and peasants-the billions of dollars of vegetables, televisions, cars, parts, etc.? What country took us out of the hole, a tip of greenbacks, when it happened that famous "December mistake" committed by our inept politicians? What country's national team playing football in Mexico as if at home, supported by a crowd throwing insults, without any consequences, against the home side?

That country, ladies and gentlemen, is called the United States (of America) and is our partner, our neighbor, our friend and supporter. Naturally, this fact because we do not like people of incurable resentment and there envidiosillos somewhat apart from ungrateful, self-conscious and forgetful. Do not digest, among other things, that a miserable wretch has delivered half of the country but we care very well to remember that after this national affliction, Mr Lopez de Santa Anna to have been yet to find his house so re-ensconced in the presidential chair (like the values we have somewhat disrupted and the perception slightly damaged but no matter, there will always be a Yankee to whom we can blame all our misfortunes and then look the other way).

This angry tirade, readers, I get the keys to see that the supreme government of the United States (Mexico) provides a block shape happily with a South American anti-American who rushed to close their borders when influenza. As Javier Aguirre said, we're screwed.

Dennis, the Google translation didn't come out so clear, so I did a manual translation of the editorial:

Don't read this article, certified patriots, because you will not like it. Let's see, what country, among all the countries of the world, gives support, housing and jobs for the millions of Mexicans who can not find such in their own homeland; no justice or opportunity or welfare or safety or anything? What country buys from our farmers, industrialists and entrepreneurs, in other words, from our workers and peasants, the billions of dollars of vegetables, televisions, cars, parts, etc.? What country bailed us out, with its greenbacks, when we had that famous "December mistake" committed by our inept politicians? What country's national soccer team plays in Mexico as if at home, cheered on by a crowd throwing insults, without any consequences, against the home team?

That country, ladies and gentlemen, is called the United States of America and is our partner, our neighbor, our friend and defender. Naturally, we do not like this fact because we are people of incurable resentment and are somewhat envious here, apart from being ungrateful, self-conscious and forgetful. We do not like, among other things, that a miserable wretch had turned over one-half of our territory, but we very well remember that after this national disaster, Lopez de Santa Anna went back to look for his house so he could reensconce himself back in the president's chair (like we have our values somewhat out of order and slightly damaged perceptions, but no matter, there will always be a Yankee on whom we can blame all our misfortunes and then look the other way).

This angry tirade, readers, jumps from my keyboard upon seeing that the supreme government of Mexico is happily disposed to form an anti-American block with some South American countries who rushed to close their borders to us in light of the influenza scare. As Javier Aguirre said, we're screwed.

I hope it passes muster with Bajagabacho.
