One should never pee where he prays. That lightning bolt is painful as it travels upstream.:o:lol:

Little respect for the dead

As the road between Todos and Cabo is widened, more of these shrines to the dead seem to get displaced. Don't think the road workers are happy about moving the shrines to the side of the road. Saw one that looked like it was going to fall over.

Also saw some HUGE Cardons that had been carefully graded around -- then one day they disappeared.

US Marines: providing enemies of America an opportunity to die for their country since 1775.

What I say before any important decision.
F*ck it.

Oh, No. Now I feel bad. I wouldn't do that unless I turned her around. She should be taking in the ocean view anyway. :D

Shrine

There are a number of such shrines. They have nothing to do with the recent dead. They are for travelers to seek blessing on their trips. They are often located at the beginning of especially dangerous stretches of road. I've heard them called, "Capillitas de Nuestra Seņora de Frenos Buenos."

Perfect. I'll bet there's one at the top of the Sta. Rosalia grade.

Maria's houses

One of the many things we do to keep ourselves and children entertained as we travel the peninsula is to look for these charming little shrines. The first one of us to spot one calls out, "Maria's house!" and points to it.

There are some really beautiful ones, some garrish, some the size for Barbie and Ken to take up housekeeping. There's one about an hour south of Constitution that is quite elaborate where people have left offerings.

There's one at the front of town on the hill in Mulege. The girls and I have grabbed our brooms and marched up there to clean it and rearrange the benches and furnishings. I think I'll give Santa Rosalia de Mulege a visit again soon.

Thanks, Pompano. We Like!

Great pic Pomp. I think my wife crosses herself every time we head south out of Mulege. That can be a nasty section of road. I understand why, everyone is watching the bay, not the road. I have been guilty as well!
