Estero Beach hotel $59/night oceanview special
http://ocdeals.freedomblogging.com/2010/03/01/estero-beach-h...
March 1st, 2010
by Marla Jo Fisher
Over the years, I’ve enjoyed relaxing at the Estero Beach Hotel, located on its own beach on scenic Estero Bay south of Ensenada in Baja California,
Mexico.
For those who aren’t scared away by reports of violence in Mexico, this is a good deal.
This modest, low-rise hotel has a nice restaurant with a great patio, swimming pool, tennis courts, playground, boat ramp, horseback riding,
massages, kayaking and jet skis for rent. The beach looks out on a bay with little or no waves.
Right now, they’re running a $59 midweek special through the end of March for an oceanview room, but, exclusively for OC Deals readers, they’re
extending that special until the end of May!
You must mention OC Deals when you call or e-mail to make your reservation. The rate is $59 per night midweek and $69 per night weekends. These rooms
normally go for $90 to $110 in low season and $120 to $140 in high season, which starts April 1.
Easter weekend, April 1-3, and Memorial Day weekend, May 28-30, are the only blackout dates.

I've never heard of "Scenic Estero Bay." Is there such a place? I always thought it was "Bahia de Todos Santos."

Triple. They do that when business is bad.

Except that San Diego still has tourists. I wonder if the place fills on weekends with normal rates?

It's been a ghost town for quite some time. As a place that traditionally attracted families from NOB, the crime thing appears to have taken its toll.
That said, it is a really good deal. And I think the writer does a disservice to the hotel when referring to it as "modest". While it ain't a palatial
resort, I can think of many other places in and around Ensenada that would better be described as modest.
And, I think the reference to Estero Bay is a faux pas, where they were actually referring to the estuary, itself.
