Where are the "most honest" Pemex stations?
I'm heading to San Ignacio and Mulege in a few weeks w/ the family.
Can anybody tell me where the "most honest" Pemex stations are around El Rosario and GN? I'm pretty sure DK touched on this in an earlier thread but I
can't find it. How's the station in Jesus Maria? Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Use pesos. Avoid station in Santa Rosalia. Check that pump is zeroed. Drive safe. Have a nice trip.

OK....The most honest PEMEX station is [consumer report says] in Stuggart, Germany.
It's on the map.

Stop in El Rosario at the Pemex for gas......................Also, If you need a stop for the night, stay there also, Baja Cactus Motel, secure,
beautiful rooms and a value!.......Don't tell anyone else though, I get tired of it being full when I need it. 
Mean people suck!

There is one station in Santa Rosalia that is "mostly honest". The one by the harbor on the water side of the hwy.
Bahia Concepcion where life starts...given a chance!

The one on the other side of the road, a little south, is a rip-off for sure. They got me my first trip south, and I've heard here and elsewhere it
has not changed.

i like the "girl server" one in san quintin too...
2 stations before you leave to the south
bathrooms ok
of course el rosario
the staff there is ALWAYS very professional
villa jesus maria just north of guerrero negro is ok too
instant coffee in the morning
i like the new viscanino (sp) station south of town
newer...no one ever there
the santa rosalia one that russ mentioned is ok
professional
the mulege one on the highway is honest...
i saw them "tested" last year and they passed
the "boys" dont try to cheat either

I posted a while back about the "new" Vizcaino station. Its empty for a reason.
Its the only station for many miles that has premium (which we use in the race bikes). when I ask for 18 litres in the fuel jug I always get about
15=16 litres. When challenged they just shrug their shoulders and say they can pour it back into the underground container. I even too pictures and
sent them to PEMEX but never got a response
Fast service if you don't mind getting shorted and the take credit cards too!

I like the new station @ dos Pinos on the way down and either new station just before San Quintin on the way up. The newer stations would seem to have
less contamination problems than the old one's. Look for the Cert sign @ the top of the Pemex sign. Good exchange rates also. Just do the math.
Just my opinion I could be wrong!

Hmmm... I Pemex'd with reckless abandon when I was down there. All the pumps were zeroed and everybody was cool... no hints of Pemex shadiness

We avoid the Viscaino pemex south of town. It is a little sketchy. We may have been ripped off there. Too bad, I sure liked the idea of a clean
toilet.

Just be careful to always check your change. On the way home last time at a station with a good reputation, we were short-changed. When we
confronted them and said that maybe we should find the owner, one attendant said the attendant with the change problem was crazy. The one who short
changed us quickly said it was a mistake, that he confused us with the lady with whom we were speaking. He pleaded with us not to contact the owner.
We decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and not contact the owner. Maybe he did make an honest mistake, it does happen, but do count your
change everywhere. And it was the first time this has happened to us in years---last time was many years ago in Nogalas.
Even with the sometimes not so clean bathrooms, we also prefer the station at the north end of Vizcaino. Except one of our favorite window washers
died last year. Sad as he was a really nice guy who loved to tease our one dog---tease in a good way. Do take your own toliet paper into the
bathroom and at times, close your eyes.
Since usually do not need to stop in Jesus Maria, we seldom do. Curious if the bathrooms are any better these days???

I have a habit of pulling up to the pump and asking the attendent to put in 400 pesos or 300 pesos or whatever I feel will get me close to full then
when he/she finishes just hand the bills over along with some propina ( I ALWAYS tip big everywhere in Baja) and a muchas gracias adios amigo hasta la
vista, baby. I'm just saying.

don't worry about choosing stations. just keep your eyes open, make sure they zero the pump before pumping, and makes sure you don't get short
changed when money changes hands. use pesos, not dollars. tip the window washers.
don't worry, be happy.
