QUIZ - WHAT KIND OF DINNER IS THIS?

Soon all this will become a dinner, courtesy of Co-pilot.

Here's a recipe quiz for you epicurious types out there.

What's the dinner going to be?..using those ingredients?

Balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, hot curry, Worchestershire sauce, mayonnaise, canned coconut milk, Barilla spaghetti.

There's the groceries...What's the recipe?

Unfortunately there is ONE item I could not get YET in Mulege to fill her grocery list...some canned coconut milk. Note: If anyone is coming past Coyote Bay soon, please drop one off, raid my beer fridge and stay for dinner.

Does anyone recognize this recipe yet? It's got a name...got any guesses?

She's in Rome for a few days, Mike. That's probably why you couldn't see her. I don't really think she looks like Sarah Palin, though. I always thought she looked a lot like my pooch, Goldy.

NOW..back to the recipe topic. What can we make of these ingredients? Anyone?

Thai chilled pasta salad? - also try adding your favorite seafood. Soy sauce can also be used instead of the Worcestershire. You could also make a Thai fish stew/soup. Sarah Palin has also been known to use these ingredients as insect repellent.

I am guessing pasta with coconut curry sauce. May I suggest that shrimp would make a good addition?

I'm voting with willyAirstream. Cold pasta salad, though I'd like to see some greenery in there for contrast and crunch.

Take a coconut and save the juice, grind up the meat and pour thru a piece of cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer. Add the juice back in to suit your taste.

Voila, instant leche de coco.

:lol::lol: Just thinking that great Hawaiian delicacy has a long shelf life. In all seriousness, if you are going to construct a proper meal from those ingredients, you are still missing a protein. I vote for lion's paw scallops.

Gracias, desertcpl

I'll pass it on to mi amigo, Carlos, who is also interested in this dish.

Carlos is an accomplished chef who has been my guest for a few days, along with his friend and now mine, Lowell.

These guys are intrepid 4-wheelers who came to stay at mi casa and check out the mountains and valleys in our area. The first day they did the Conception peninsula all the way to the old mine and back. The next they did the overland trip from Mulege to the Paciific via the ice-plant road out of Mulege.

These are gung-ho outdoorsmen. Lowell lives in Alaska half the year. Carlos in Baja Sur most of the time.

We went to the fish tournament at the Jungla in Mulege. But went home to eat...

..because Carlos is owner/chef of the very popular La Havana Cafe in San Jose del Cabo..on the corridor. And...he has been treating us to some truly studendous dinners..no, they are much more than mere dinners..they are dining experiences.

We will be going down there to be his guests and hear some great violin and flamenco duets he is very excited about. Other amigos from that area tell me that La Havana is 'the happening place' down at the cape. Can't wait to hear that music.

Now...The dish name for all those ingredients above is:

Spaghetti aglio olio and_______? Well, shoot, now I forgot... I'll have to ask Co-pilot and get back to you..sigh.

Tell me more. If the place you're speaking of is across the highway from Costa Azul, I must admit that I hadn't stopped in there because I thought it was more of a night club than a fine restaurant. Is it the same place, up on the hill?
