Ensenada to Tecate -- road construction finished?

Planning our trip north. Is the road construction from earlier this winter from Ensenada to Tecate finished?
Can anyone recommend an economical motel in Tecate?
Thanks big time!

Drove the road today, and although not finished, was very good with only a couple of little delays.
Beautiful with desert flowers, and grapevines leafing out.

Not sure about the construction, but I think it's still in progress.
I tried to find a reasonably priced motel in Tecate a few years back and couldn't. The small motel district is on Juarez, west of the town square. I priced the most modest appearing place, no pool that I could see, and a single was around 75 bucks. [9 - 10 years ago?]
I was headed north so I just went on to Chula Vista and stayed at the Vagabond for 50. That price is still the same.

Sorry, Nan+D....didn't see your post.

there's a new motel on the south side of the road
about 10 miles before you get to tecate

look nice
right on the road
maybe noise

don't know the price

there's about 2 miles of dirt
not too bad
this was last week

the rest is fast and smooth

i wouldn't reccomend ANY $50 hotel at the border
you need to spend AT LEAST $80
to be "safe"

oh yea...and stay away from the airport
NOISE!!!:o:o
