Most enjoyable images - all of 'em.
I especially like that first shot with the reel and rod...
and the second one just seems to flow with peacefulness.
Again... thank you so much, Jim, for sharing your vacation with us.

Yeah... believe it or not. A rock (we think) went thru the thickest part of the tread and punctured the tire.

Seriously question the advertising division of Michelin/BFG that promotes this tire's 3 ply sidewall as something that makes it better than others... There are more BFG All Terrain T/A sidewall punctures than any others reported. Now that could be because there are more BFG A/Ts in Baja than other brands... ??? :?:

That's an interesting statistic. I think you are correct though, there are a lot of BFG's pounding the off-piste. In hind sight, we should have been running the tires at a lower pressure. The truck was loaded and heavy. The rock that pierced the tire went thru the thickest part of the tread pattern. Forget the 3 ply sidewalls. This rock cut thru probably an inch of rubber, then a couple of steel plies. With that said, the llantera guy in Rosarito (San Borja turnoff), charged $5 to pull the tire from the rim (by hand with a big hammer and pry bar), apply a truck tire patch, and put everything back together. He was given a nice tip from some weary and grateful travelers!

Great!

My wife loves the BFG T/As... they were on her CJ-5, and last forever... Who knows, I may get them too... but, I don't think so... The sidewalls are very stiff for sand running, where I do most of my four wheeling.

Thanks for your response!

This is arguably my favorite group of pictures and I especially like the one 'casting for croakers'. Hopefully, we'll be doing some of that in a short while. Looks like you found a good spot. I particularly like beaches like this one where the surf breaks way out there and slowly rolls in.

Nice jack, looks like Pt. Arena. They don't taste so good. Catch any ladyfish there?

Hi Igor -- Actually La Ventana. That sucker towed me all around in my kayak. They don't call them "toros" for nothing. I did catch a ladyfish and I sheepishly must admit a ton of coronet fish, with the fly rod. One afternoon at Punta Arena, I seemed to have cast into a "nest" of those slimers. I would do two handed retrieves as fast as I could, and the coronets would still take the bug. If you ever need to know what fly to catch a coronet on, I've got a nice selection.

Gardnerville?! You're right up the road from us. Wave to us on your way down south. You're going to have great time. If you fish, it's only going to get better when you're there.

I agree with you about the mornings. I can't wait to get going in the mornings with the sun rising over the Sea of Cortez. Magical.
