April 25 New Wine & Mollusk Event Review & Photos

Several of us Punta Banditos enjoyed Sunday's New Wine & Mollusk event at the Cruiseport Marina in Ensenada.

Approximately 100 booths were filled with Baja restaurants and wineries serving their best. Clams, mussels, oysters, uni, scallops and abolone were plentiful during the noon-5PM event. After 3-ish, some food and wine began to run out, but, 75% of the vendors were well-prepared and serving until closing.

Perfect weather, high quality food, endless wine varieties and a fun setting on the water were bargain priced at 350 pesos. It was never crowded and I never waited more than 3-4 customers ahead of me waiting to sip, scarf and slurp.

photos courtesy of CK, thanks.

Looks like fun. Is this a yearly thing? Sorry I missed it.

Jodiego, it is an annual event. In my 3.5 years in Ensenada, my highest rating for any other wine+food event is a 7 compared with the perfect TEN for this one.

Reviews from 2009 New Wine & Mollusk event were so-so. I believe this year's event quality improvement is due to the desperate times of Baja restaurants and wineries forced to compete for scarce customers and money.

Hope that this is a harbinger for the upcoming wine events in August.
