This knot held
Still used the Palomar knot...just made sure it was right. Lure this time though, not a second hook. I pulled the hook out of the first one cause I
wasn't getting anywhere after 40 minutes....this one was in the kayak after 20 minutes. 35 pounds. Nice!

long live the palomar, UNI or whatever else you what to call it.
Just rememberto spit on the knot before you cinch to lubricate the knot so the leader won't get burnt and weakened, and always pull the knot tight
using the tag end, so any accident burn or weakness is pulled out of the knot rather back into the leader or mainline.
Both of these tips works on most knots on Flouro, mono, and braid.

A Palomar is not a UNI as I recall. Isn't the UNI also called the Stren knot?
Yes, a Palomar is a strong knot but I have read that it doesnt absorb shock well from a monster hit.

I'm a big fan of the San Diego jam knot or the double San Diego jam knot. Works in mono or braided lines. Easy to tie, although not as easy as the
palomar.
