Free road hazard from Rosarito to Cantamar
Fellow Nomads a word to the wise the free road between Rosarito and Cantamar has become very dangerous in both directions. There are numerous pot
holes that are causing cars to swerve into the on coming traffic in many locations. Please be careful if you choose to take the free road and if you
must stay off it at night. I can’t imagine getting a flat out there at night.

I have to totally agree with this it is beyond bad and a situation in the making. Have given up calling them "pot holes", they are becoming "sink
holes" so absolutely do not drive the free road at night. For a fairly
newly done road it is a disaster, bet the mayor of Rosarito isn't using it or it would be fixed by now...

Bent a rim just last week coming north just before Calafia. I am sure it was one of those "sink holes" you speak of. That road is just plain
dangerous right now. Unless you need to access that road, pay the toll and go out of your way.
Anybody have information on the conditions south of Cantamar to La Fonda?

the contractor that did that work should be arrested and executed. And quite frankly, the toll road isn't much better.
edit to add: they did repair most of the southbound potholes just before the Rosarito-Ensenada Bike ride, but then it rained again after that and
they're all back & then some.

Cantamar to La Mision, the road is a whole bunch better because it is still the original pavement.
REALLY, do be careful from Blvd 2000 to just past Puerto Nuevo/ Cantamar area...we are not exaggerating...the potholes are as large
as a car, and they really should be called crevasses. I drove the area two weeks ago and came very close to a head-on because someone was avoiding the
crevasses. I'm going to try it again this weekend, but there isn't much choice going south from Blvd 2000.

make sure there is a car in front of you and do what they do...unless they fall into one of the holes. Just don't pass them.

I got caught by one of those potholes (sinkholes) and it almost ate my car.........and you're right, the toll road from Las Playas to Calafia exit is
bad, too.......

Bent my rim also It costs $200.00 pesos to repair it U2U me and I'll tell you where to take it in Rosarito.
That Roads going to kill more people no doubt about it. All those overweight trucks traveling down it. Some of those guys think thier driving sports
cars. They are supposed to take the toll road but dont so that they can charge thier company $2.25 for the Rosarito toll and the Ensenada toll also.
Oh more thing the Toll road itself just North of Calafia has some huge pot holes. I complained to the guy at the toll booth yesterday telling him in
spanish how dangerous it was he just looked me and handed me a pamphlet, telling me to call or complain on line. This gave me the impression I was
not the first to complain. You'd think since we were paying tolls the Toll road itself would be in good shape. No wonder this place has become a ghost
town.

My Car Was Damaged by a Flying Rim
This last week, a semi-truck passing me lost a rim, it bounced and hit my off-side front, scaring the very xxx (you can insert descriptive) out of me.
I couldn't get the ID of the semi; the cowboy trucker vanished. I just wonder if there is a way to get apply for repairs other than my Mexican
insurance:

I had a dump truck full of rock delivered to my house yesterday and the driver spent a bit of time cleaning up a few loose rocks from his bumper. He
told me he recently had to replace someones windshield that took a hit. It's the law according to him.
Don't know what you can do, Jan, if you can't ID the truck.

Dennis,
Tell that driver to take his rig over the stretch of road between 200 and Cantamar. Even a load of rocks falling out of his truck would be a welcome
change to the sink holes.

Hey, I am intending to pull a trailer with a fifteen foot fiber glass boat on it from San Diego to La Paz next week. Maybe I should wait a month???

Don't know why you'd be on the Free Road, Mitch, unless you ran out of Pacifico. Just stay on the Toll Road.
