The info above about Alfonsina's prices is correct. We have had a house there for 31 years. The is no public internet. About 1/3 of the homes have
a HugheNet satellite dish and internet and some have wireless routers to share the connection with a neighbor. All electricity is by generator or
solar/wind systems....inverters and batteries. If you don't know about the "services" there...like fresh water, salt water for toilets, propane for
cooking and etc. you should check that out before you buy.....all the houses are more like a yacht that doesn't float than like a Gringo house.

better if we just stay off the grid.

The Cantina y Motel has internet access...they may sell you time...don't know. The camp manager is Antonio..good guy. Go see him. The Rodriguez
Rancho Grande has a sat phone and will sell you time on it...don't know the price.

Last time we were there.... "no locks" on the rooms at Alfonsina's Motel. That sort of shocks some folks. The restaurant is excellent. Folks too.

I do not know that there has EVER been locks on doors
at Alfonsinas! Our first trip there was in 1997 & when I asked for room keys everyone there & with us had a GREAT laugh! There were still no locks when we were there last year.

Consider a sat phone for the week?
Woody,
have you considered renting a sat phone for the time that you are in Gonzaga? All Roads Communication in San Diego, has been our provider for the last
several years, great service, great people, and they will overnight it to you if you don't want to pick it up. Much easier then trying to arrange
internet usage.

So, how do you lock up your valuables?

We packed everything like cameras and such...in the Rover and then parked it closer to the restaurant to have them eye the car (more or less)(!).
Overnight bags were left in the rooms. Never a issue down there for us.

Lost Passports could pose a serious problem. Its interesting there isn't some sort of safe to keep things locked up in. I guess, since it's Baja,
these precautions aren't necessary...

We have had a place on Alfonsina's beach for 32 years. Very few of the houses there have had a theft...maybe five or six in all those years. Most
cases were quickly solved because it was pretty obvious who was the bad guy. It isn't a safe as it once was but I think you will find that about
99.99% of the Mexicans there are way more honest than yer basic Gringo chief of police.
