Ciuidad Obregon to Cuauhtemoc Route

We are dirving back to Texas to escape the summer heat in La Paz and are taking a different route. Has anyone driven the road from Ciuidad Obregon to Cuauhtemoc? If so, is this doable in a day? It's only 325 miles, but the road ain't exactly a straight shot.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You're escaping the summer heat in La Paz by coming back to summer in Texas?

Actually I'm interested in that route too but haven't heard any reports...

Come on you folks. surely someone has driven this route before.

Is the 325 miles from C. Obregon to Cuautemoc realistic for a day drive?

After reading all the responses to the Copper Canyon thread there must be someone who has driven this route,

You could try the Lonely Planet Mexico forum

They are probably the most knowledgeable bunch about mainland Mexico on the Web...always!...uh, usually...OK, sometimes.

I drove from Hermosillo to Cuahuatemoc last October in 9 hours. I would allow a a hour more from Obregon. A long day with winding road all the way. On our trip last month we stopped at Basasaechic overnight. Take the road to the falls and on the left are log cabins for rent. Charming alpine setting. The falls are just a few minutes down the road from there. We ate in, but I understand there's an fairly OK restaurant in town.
