When I heard the price charged by AAA for Mexican auto insurance it was a VERY HIGH PRICE compared to BajaBound.com (here on Nomad).

AAA is ONLY an agent for Grupo Nacional Provincial
a mexican insurance company
i'd skip AAA and get bajabound for the "lawyer part"
you'll need it if you get in an accident

I wonder if they also handle Homeowner's Insurance for GNP?
I was able to get it, including flood insurance, from the GNP agent in El Paso, TX for this year.

I strongly ask anyone with superior knowledge to chime in here. My take on GNP is that the are merely a brokerage. They appear to not be an insurance
company. So, that would place them on equal footing with such well-known brokers as Bajabound. What I could not glean from their site was just who was
underwriting the insurance they sold. Bajabound and several other brokers located in the US have contractual agreements with insurers that are
multi-national, and retain immense amounts of reserves. While I really don't wish to ignorantly disparage GNP, I do wonder why it is that they don't
seem to identify their insurance carriers on their website.

Here's the financials for GNP (Grupo Nacional Provincial SAB):
http://www.google.com/finance?q=MXK:GNP
Revenue of 22 billion pesos (2 billion US dollars) in 2009. Bit more than a brokerage.
For Mexican health insurance for example, they're #1 in the market with a 26% market share.

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I was looking for. You obviously Google better than I Google.

AAA Insurance
Back in '72-'73 I bought Mex Trip Insurance from the Auto Club before finding out that it was quite a bit higher than the insurance available at the
Border.
No surprise to hear that it still is.

I've mentioned it before, but, given that AAA only offers coverage through a single carrier, there exists no competition. The several online brokers
that most of the nomads use offer quotes from more than one carrier.

When I called BajaBound about their coverage, they said they could not cover a vehicle registered in Mexico with Mexican plates.
Anyone care to chime in about this? We need to get Mexican insurance for one of our trucks we imported.
