Punta San Francisquito

Has anybody heard about a drug runner getting caught at San Francisquito with a giant panga full of drugs, shot and killed by the military encampment there, then hung on a cross for several days about mid-June? I have friends who were there spear-fishing just before and just after this was supposed to have occurred, but I have not found any news on this alleged event. Anyone?

I know...it is unbelievable to me too. If it were not for who I heard it from, I would never have entertained the possibility that it were true. But, these are doctor friends that regularly fly to PSF to spearfish, and are now terribly spooked to return. I will try to find out who THEY heard it from, but according to the doctor, the body was taken down June 17th on the morning that they arrived. They did not see the body themsleves, so they must be relying on someone there that told them this when they arrived...

Lol...ok...I just talked to my doctor friend.

He heard it from a guy named Howard, and American who lives there for weeks/months at a time. However, Howard apparently is a bit of a drinker...so my doctor friend is taking all of this with the proverbial "grain of salt"...

Anybody here know this "Howard" guy?...as he is apparently a bit of a fixture in PSF....

Howard

I met Howard about a month ago at PTSFO. He is indeed a lively chap with no shortage of colorful tales!

What a coincidence, he was sippin on the hip flask the day I met him.

You may remember a story of the helicopter that flew in to the beach in front of the resort and 2 blondes popped out and went swimming. The other saucy details I added were from Howard.

I was not really sure about that story until the photo appeared here.

But what the hell, why let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Capt Mike, Howard used to work at Laguna Sea Sports in addition to a career as a commercial diver

No worries

wow - i MIGHT have him on video from a trip there in the 80s.
i did a 20 minute infomercial which featured interviews with some LSS guys and a tour of the campo/facility. We were planning on doing 2-3 nite junkets for Genaro flying in adventure types.
it was a great biz plan until the liquor wore off.
i need to get that beta (gulp!) tape to El Camote so we can watch it on DVD...:lol::lol:

I am glad to hear he is alive and well. As far as whether on not there is truth to this story I do not know. But I am proud to be a good friend of Howards!

who here (Ken Bondy for sure) recalls old Ed that lived at PSFO quietly for 17 years straight reading books and one day with no explanation left.
he was fun to talk to but he'd never tell you about himself.
we figured he was hiding from law or wife....

I knew Ed pretty well although he was guarded about his past. I think he was a military pilot because he asked me several times to bring him a book on some aspect of military aircraft. He lived in a small house on the keyhole bay and had a little space behind the office that they let him use for his crafts and other stuff he kept there. He married one of the Mexican gals who worked in the kitchen, her name was Martha and she was a real sweetheart. I think at one time I knew his last name but I can't find it in my logs or my notes. I will try to dig up a picture of Ed.

desertcpl I knew Jack Devine well also. Used to love his fireside "bounty hunter" stories. He lived in Tijuana, flew a beautiful C-210. I once almost sunk his tin boat (which he let us use when he was not there). I made a too-tight high-speed turn. Fortunately I recovered just in time. Would hate to have had Jack hunting me down in Baja :).
