Looking for a ride... September

Hey hey Gang,
First, let me introduce myself, My names Chuck, better known as Tunachuck, and Ive been a long time member of Allcoast.com which is where I originally heard about you guys. I've spent time in the past looking around the site and drooling over your adventures, and it sure looks like a good time. Finally I have a reason to post.

My girlfriend and I have been down in Honduras for the past few months working at a Hostel while she is working at a hospital in town. And for a variety of reasons we have decided its time to move on, and rather than fly home from Honduras at the end of September, we have decided to start making our way back over land.

A tentative plan puts us in La Paz/Cabo sometime in September. And we are hoping to catch a ride/rides back to the US from there.

Plans are very very open to adjustment so if your leaving beginning/middle/end of September to get back to the states and think you would have space for two we would love to jump aboard for the ride. and of course share gas, etc.

We're both 23 and game for an adventure, I'm a long time diehard fisherman, with four years experience as a deck hand in Santa Barbara.

you can either reply to me here, or email me at Tunachuck@gmail.com

Thanks a ton for your help!

Also, looking further into the baja travel situation, if your only coming down part way...half way or further and think you could fit us that could work too.

Thanks again guys

a point to remember is that very few gringos who live in Baja routinely head north in September. someone planning a round trip vacation would be your best bet...keep asking/posting. especially closer to September as there are always folks who find they must drive north though they hadn't planned to.
as an alternative the bus system is efficient and reasonably priced. the buses are a step down from Tika buses but a huge step up from the chicken buses of Honduras....ac (carry a sweater!), usually decent seats, and movies. you can go direct or stop here and there and explore Baja. for air... flights from La Paz and/or Cabo to Tijuana will be cheaper than those to the USA.
buena suerte. enjoy the trip however you make it.

Hey,

Thanks a ton for the tips. I found the bus stuff this afternoon after posting this so that is always a great option. I figured Sep. wasnt the best, but worth a shot none the less.

I know this isnt the place, but any suggestions on where to look if there are any boats heading from Cabo back up to the US needing crew?

thanks again

you won't find boats heading north that time of year...it's hurricane season.
BajaWesternOnion.com has a section devoted to rides/shares, etc. try there, too.
keep posting, check back closer to departure time, something will turn up.

Hey Chuck, great place here, isn't it. Has me fired up to go south again. Bunch of very nice people.

Unfortunately you're going the wrong direction at the wrong time. The yachts go south around Oct 1 and head north June 1. Pretty much the same for the part time residents.

One other alternative if you get short on time is Volaris air. A one way ticket from La Paz to TJ is about $70, they fly daily. FWIW
