If you have your own boat, looks to be a much shorter run from San Bruno:light:

10 dodos reported off Conceptioin today in two boats. I may go out side the south Santa Inez island and towards the Conception Light or a couple miles E of the island tomorrow. A friend is going off the mine area. Hope to have a couple reports.

Do you think they are moving south, or is that within the safe range of the Duraboat? What direction does the current normally run this time of year?

bajabass , i still have 15 mph breeze but the swell seems to have settled down some. SST shows warmer water moving up from the South but it's too far off shore for the tin boat. It's showing 77º inside about 15 miles. It'll get better!
Bob and Susan, Maybe see ya out there. Good Luck! "Sombrino" I like it. I'll be on ch. 72 "Bonehead" (long story)

I'm loaded up and nearly ready to launch ...but there's a 1 to 2 foot shore break this morning. It's low tide and the swell is large out 30 yards or so. With the short duration between the swells it'd be a little more than I want to do. I think once the tide comes in a bit it'll be doable without and troubles. Dorado don't get up early, right?

Went out and played on the water today. Right off I got busted off in the rocks in front of the hotel. Lost my last "favorite" lure. I caught lot of dink fish and the breeze came up and I thought I was going to have to call it a short day. Well maybe not because some got on the end of my line and wouldn't let it go. I followed it to the camp beach and back to the hotel 3 times and a lot of battling in between. After about an hour I had the feeling this brute was getting the best of me. duh! It made a quick turn and went under the boat and cut off on the prop. Damn +++++
Now there were white caps but I just couldn't say quit. Got some more dinks, nothing for the ice chest and BOOM! Another brute. I had switched to an old salmon reel with 30# line and had a chance to work this one. Although I was sure I was going to be spooled a couple of times. This fight only lasted about a half hour and I got it to the boat. Only a 20# toro. Maybe a little bigger??? It fought like the first one so I'm thinking it was also a toro. After a photo opp and release the wind calmed down and I got to play until 3. I hooked 2 more toros and a lot more dinks. Went down to the estuary and boated aroind inside for awhile for 0 fish. On the way home I got a bunch of roosters and a double (two on one lure).

toro

I know it doesn't look 20# but I'm a fisherman

inside the estuary

dink rooster

Double dink

Are toro the same as green jack? Nice roosters I hope to catch dorado but some roosters would be fun sport for the kids and the big kid. I can not wait to get there on saturday.

I believe what Russ caught is a Pacific Jack Crevalle, Caranx caninus, AKA Toro. Hard to tell from the photo, as I need to look at several ID points, but the green jack is slimmer.
