Does anybody know, remember Vicente from Punta Abreojos?
Does anybody Know Vicente (Arce?) from Abreojos? He used to be a kind of unofficial mayor, very friendly to visiting gringos. Drove a tan f150. I
haven't been there since 98. I wonder if he is still around

I think I knew him. In the 70s and 80s I would regularly land in Abreojos on Baja trips to buy lobster and abalone at the cooperativo. Invariably, a
fellow in a Ford pickup would come out to meet us and haul us into town. He always introduced himself as the mayor of Abreojos. I don't really
remember his name but I'm sure we are talking about the same person. He was a wonderful fellow and part of my "Baja lore". I hope he is still on
this side of the sod.

mike - don't know him. I went into Meadowlark a few times for touch and go's when I was getting my private (1973) but I don't think I ever did a full
stop landing there. Did he ever write anything?

Thanks for the heads up, he was really a great guy, helped me out every time I was down there. Does he still take care of that house down at punta
pequena? (casa de gringos) Who knows maybe the whole place is full of houses by now. I heard it started getting pretty crowded after they paved the
road. I'll never forget the world class surfing and wide open fishing though...and the friendly locals

yes he still takes care of the house (owned by people in Fresno). Houses have not reached that far yet but do go around the bay between there and
town. People are still friendly but the whole town has gotten bigger in the last ten years (not just Gringos). | Quote: | Originally posted by hawaiicruz

You could get white seabass off those rocks back then. And non-stop shortfin corvina action. It was wonderful.
