wow nice picture. I am taking my son there mid - late august (surfing, bonding etc..)I can't wait. We have never been there , any advise or heads-up on whatever would be welcome. We have a place south of Colonet so we are familiar with baja norte but have never been to abreojos.
thanks Mike and Thatcher

No Pemex, but there is a rustico gas station. My recommendation -- if you want to camp -- is to camp next to one of the palapa's at Campo Rene. Can be kind of busy, but it's on the estuary and is away from the howling winds in Abreojos proper.

oooooo - ahhhhhhh wow!!

a decent tent with extra stakes and guy lines will keep you sheltered from the wind if it blows more than usual. Tie it to your car, little bushes. Campo Rene is tucked back near the estuary.

what a gorgeous photo .... here I am in San Diego wishing I were home already !! Stop by for a ballena with Les and I when you are in Abreojos !! We are in La Bocana which is 10 miles north of Abreojos. Typically, we do not have waves but you never know ...

If the wind gets to be too much, check in with Chelo's - she rents out rooms right at the entrance to Abreojos.

Campo Rene is worth a visit (and on the way to Abreojos) if you have never been - birds birds and more birds in their sanctuary.

I dont mind them eating scraps or out of sight out of mind, but when they jump out of a box or whatever I'm opening is not going to fly with me. My record is 15 in traps in one night. Yes I will bring some traps

We had a family build a nest in the air filter one year over there. The discovery was made back home in the US. I later had this terrible image of starting the car.

Then there was the time I chased one into a dead panel of the topmost shelf of the truck. A stalemate. He just waited until dark before making his move.

Then there was the time my wife woke up to see one looking at her from the end of the sleeping bag and thought it was a dream.

We never brought any traps.
