I was wondering about that too. That article was pretty hard on Gov. Narizco.

OK....Other than what you implied earlier, that Sal should distance himself from the situation, what's the rest of the story. I, for one, have no background on the story.

It's about Sal being at an event ( San Jose shortcourse event) with Trevino a former Tourism Secretary now running for Governor. Baja Racing News.com was blasting Sal over it in the article above. The charge is that Baja Sur is paying thousands of dollars to Sal for the Baja 1000 while the local governments don't have money to pay employees and vendors. There are several claims and demands for social justice. The person behind it appears to be Mike Overcast a man in off road circles many consider a scum bag to put it politely. If you do a search on him you can better understand his reputation. My guess is that Overcast and Trevino may have had a falling out or disagreement probably over an off road event Overcast was involved with and Overcast is now trying to get back at him.

From what I get from Jesse is that it makes Sal look bad on the local news. I think once the racers, chasers, and their families start showing up in La Paz and Cabo filling the hotels and resturants all will be forgotten.

Sorry. but we are a part of Mexican race club... so spanish is no problem for us. When in Mexico... do as the Mexicans do.

And Race Dezert (I am a member) does not cover all the races. Only a few

I would not recommend them - highly biased (to make a very mild statement) and in a infight with the others that split from them and opened another organization. B.t.w. - the "others" in no way better. Additional both are only in spanish.

I suggest either http://www.Race-Dezert.com - you find plenty of insider information there from insiders and gringos that race and live at BCS. They are around for 10 years - or a Google search for "Baja Sur+Racing" ( http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en#hl=en&source=hp&q=Baja+Sur%2BRacing&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&a mp;fp=8631cdd35a4d476d )

Just disregard evtl. upcoming search results from the individual in question further up in this thread. His URL is here - and at many other websites - banned for a reason (content thief, slanderous reporting, liar, con-artist, leeching of Baja and not giving anything back)
