Ensenada to Tecate

Great trip to San Quintin and we always take the Ensenada to Tecate road to avoid TJ - I refuse to get in those multiple lanes with people jockeying for position after a great relaxing trip to Baja. As you all know the road to Tecate is under construction and the part that is complete is great - We hit the construction - went 3 miles back on the road then, whoops, back on the construction for 12 more miles. Plus we got stuck behind a caravan led by a giant bulldozer on a flatbed truck that went about 3-5 mph. We watched cards fly around it and finally pulled a move and got in front of it. Just bad luck - I think without the bulldozer/flatbed issue this wouldn't have been so bad.
So Blvd 2000 from Popotla might be the answer unless you wish to deal with Tj. So bottom line Tj was a 90 minute delay according to the radio - it took us 25 minutes to clear the border at Tecate, but add in the construction delay -...I'll still take the Tecate way to avoid TJ. This was a Thursday trip so if you're coming back on the weekend it might not be an issue - Also new construction south of Ensenada - major stuff going on! No problems yet, but could be an issue later.

Yikes! With the road to Gonzaga under major construction, your news about Tectate south and Ensenada south means just about now matter WHAT, you're gonna hit something heading south. Oh well, if you're in a hurry you shouldn't be in Baja anyways.

Exactly! No hurry, no worry...

There is major road widening construction south of Ensenada (Maneadero to Uruapan, just north of Santo Tomas), and south from El Rosario.
