insurance question
so i got the pop up trailer and now i need insurance for it. bonita west says i need to buy a seperate policy showing the value of the truck as $1 and
the full value of the trailer. this, in addition to my original policy showing full value of the truck. both would be in effect. the price for the $1
truck and $2000 trailer is over half what my $12000 truck policy costs.
so..... can i shop around for other coverage for the $1 truck and $2000 trailer or does one company have to ensure the whole unit?

I purchased an annual policy for a utility trailer from Geoff (Bajabound insurance). Didn't notice or discuss the $1 thing, don't think I have it

woody: i don't have coverage on my boat and trailer, but my truck policy lists the trailer. the truck is not covered if the trailer is being towed
and not listed on the policy. something to confirm with your insurance carrier.
discover baja.

Unless you are covering one vehicle with only liability and the other with comprehensive, there is no advantage of splitting your policy like that.
That is usually only done if you want comprehensive and collision on say the truck, but only want liability on the trailer. Even with that, you can
usually set your policy up that way as long as you are clear with the insurance agent about what you want covered, but you always save money by
putting both on the same policy.
Now the question arises about trailers. Boats are usually only covered when they are being towed and that way they get away from theft coverage.
In fact some companies admit that if you went in for a meal and came back out and the boat was stolen, even though it was attached at the time, that
you might not have coverage. Generally though, travel trailers are dealt with differently than boat trailers and are usually covered however you want
them to be set up. If you want it replaced in the event of an accident you need comp and collision. If you just want to cover the people you run
over, then liability would do the trick.

Woody, Check out the Vagabundos. Their policies will cover just about everything. BTW, how's the trailer coming along?
