Gracias. Reminds me of Easter week in downtown L.A. every year people from all around and all walks of life bring in their pets to Olvera Street for a
big celebration and then a blessing on the pets from the Priest. I would love to experience a cabalgata some day.

Thanks, I did not mean to delete the first post where I responded to you, but I did.
And I deleted the one with all the pix and will repost them. I downloaded a new image resizer and I did not like what it did to the pix!

First, as I mentioned in the post I did not mean to delete, the first picture was of a horse who could not complete the cabalgata---at the entrance to
town, he would not settle down, and It Was Time to Go home.
Olvera Street---such great memories from when I was child---was very different then. My favorite were always the glass blowers.
I do hope you experience a cabalgata---it is just very special. I am not Catholic, but soom of these old traditions really move me, and most of them
predate the church.
Some pix from this year---some that are finally processed.
Quite a sight to look out from before the entrance of town and see them arriving.
Then led to the entrance of town by a band in the back of a truck
At the entrance to town, the Statue of the Virgin joins the group to lead them into and through town.
And this is the first Fiesta in Asuncion for the new padre, Padre Humberto who used to be in La Paz. Here is saying hello to us as we met him before
the quinceanera of a close friend. He is really friendly and fun to talk with. With us and a couple of other gringos at the quinceanera, he stopped in
the middle of the ceremony and in English, welcomed us to the church and the celebration.
The older generation
And the younger generation
Once the procession is in town, the Statue of the Virgin gets to ride in the back of one of our two police trucks ---- and they all head to the
beautiful church.
And the first order of business is to return the Statue to the Church
And then the blessing of all by the Padre
We really like Padre Humberto, but we think last year Padre Carlos was something else with the Holy Water in the plastic bottle.
And time for more to go home.
It is quite special, and great to be there to experience it.

We have several horses up here on the farm...love them to death. I am amazed to see the two horses in the back of that pick up truck! Only in Baja!
Very good pictorial you gave us ...txs
I grew up up in Arcadia....so Olvera Street was a monthly thing Mom and Dad would do......picture is that GREAT joint that had a real wood burning
stove to cook those taquitos.
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Arcadia? Gees, we who grew up in Temple City, well we all thought you all thought you were a cut above. 
OK, I ended up raising my boys in Arcadia----but it was lower Arcadia.

Wessongroup, I think one of the reasons I enjoy this event so much is there is such an air of pride among the participants---and the photo you

Leo's Hamburger stand off Huntington Blvd. Old man Leo had 6 bar stools and served penny burgers, basket of fries...cola for 60 cents back in 1968ish.
He was right down the street from Santa Anita Theater, in an alley

A little earlier, before Mike Apple sold out, there was nothing as good as Mike's Hot Dog Stand on Rosemead Blvd around the corner from the Temple
Theatre---Pastrami straight from New York.
