OK, now what? Is the Playas de Tijuana Boardwalk a no-win parking tourist trap?

http://www.afntijuana.info/afn/?p=13685

"Well, it's always something" as Roseanne Roseannadanna's nana used to say...

They install this beautiful boardwalk to attract visitors to Playas de Tijuana and now the TJ Police and the Auxiliary Police are being accused of colluding with up to 10 homeless at a time to break into the parked cars, or direct the tourists to park illegally where they are towed for profit in addition to being broken into. Just allegations so far, I think...

Maybe Rosarito is better off without a tourist boardwalk if this is what happens. Nah, we need the boardwalk and our Tourist Police are better paid and trained. :saint:

back in the late 50's, before the bull ring was built, they held drag races on Sunday's where the board walk is now. When you paid your entry fee they gave you a shot of Tequilla and the police didn't bother anyone.

My next visit to Tijuana will be via taxi, parking in the US for this very reason. Parking is a nightmare in the border region.:!:

I think they got this problem cleaned up today. You could almost think the police pay attention to internet news (AFN) and message boards?

I have gotten to where I look for the lots where you pay someone to watch your vehicle. I just got tired of having things happen and this has been working for me. Even when I go to a resturant and they have someone outside watching cars I tip half going in to them and the other half going out, usually two dollars total.
Some will say this is expensive but having door locks and windows replaced and not even counting my time involved makes two dollars look great!!! When I go to Walmart in Rosarito or T.J. mall I make sure I do this again as too many cars and too little enforce to prevent becoming a victim, thus sometimes you pay for what you get in the way of help,LOL. I really do not mind as in my little way I am spreading the money to people that need it badly while offering a service. Take Care & Travel Safe bajafun777

The best part of the redevelopment project is the new seawall, most of which you can't see, it runs DEEP into the ground. The idea is that the seawall will hold in check the erosion and therefore restore value to the oceanfront buildings, some of which are in a state of extreme disrepair. Many are already being renovated, new structures are being built, and the few remaining vacant lots are being snatched up.

As far as parking goes, I don't know why they don't open up the bullring parking lot, it is little used and huge. The place is a waste of space. There hasn't been a bullfight all summer, which is the usual season.

Don't wan to burst your parking bubble- but that's what was happening there. People paid the guys to park and watch their cars and those same guys were the ones doing the car break-ins. Hopefully they cleaned them all out, but like c-ckroaches- there is a never ending supply this close to the border.

Yea, I have heard those horror stories also but so far with the pay half telling them more if car ok upon return has been working better for ME. It is working a lot better than what I had been experiencing with 3 prior break-ins before going to this system of basically paying to leave mine alone. Nothing full proof and I will probably get hit again but hopefully you have not jinked me now. LOL Ah, it is what it is in Mexico! Take Care & Travel Safe bajafun777
