Black and white - birds in formal attire.
Thanks for sharing the storks, Judy. I love 'em, too.

Truly beautiful birds, Judy..gracias for the photos.

Here are a couple of other cranes. Sandhill cranes. On their long mirgtation from the tundras of Canada to the far south. These type of cranes were passing through North Dakota about 2 weeks ago. The last remaining whooping cranes..(a very rare and endangered bird-less than 100 left)...often accompany a sandhill flock for the long flight south. These sandhills are big guys, but the white whoopers have 6 foot wing spans!

Sandies fly south sooner than most other migratory speicies. I think they must have heard about BAJA.

Nope those are the storks in flight after I got too close

Roger...those are beautiful birds. I will keep my eyes open for them and all the other migratory birds that will be passing through our estero in the months to come. Speaking of migratory birds, when will you be back?

Thanks for you kind words, Nomads

There's a flock of Sandhills that wintered in south Mississippi many years ago and decided to stay!

Were your pics taken down there at the Estuary , south of town?

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Shari's comment got me to thinking...did I spell Hail correctly which led to googling the song which led to this.

ORIGINAL CHORUS:

Hail! Hail! the
gang's all here,
What the deuce do
we care,
What the deuce do
we care,
Hail! Hail! we're
full of cheer,
What the deuce do
we care Bill!

OTHER WELL KNOWN VERSIONS:

Hail, hail, the
gang's all here,
Never mind the
weather, here we are together;
Hail, hail, the
gang's all here,
Sure we're glad
that you're here, too!

Hail, hail, the
gang's all here,
We're a bunch of
live ones, not a single dead one;
Hail, hail, the
gang's all here,
Sure I'm glad
that I'm here, too!

I especially like the last two verses as a theme song for this gang!

Judy, I have only to wait for a migratory flyer flapping back from Rome...and we'll hoist anchor this Saturday. I know the course...a little twisty here and there...but we'll make port!

We will be following..and leading..lots of other migratory types. ;)

..and singing, "Hail, Hail..the gangs all here!"

I received a U2U about taking some nomads to do some bird watching in the estuary and I thought that I would offer to take anyone else who is interested on a tour.
So if you are down this way(San Jose) and would like to check out the birds, send me a U2U and we can arrange a meet.
