New Walmart in CD Constitution
The word is that there is a new building on the North end of CD Constitution that is going to be a new Walmart. That should give the
cops there some "fresh meat" coming to town to shop.

Two days ago I noticed intensive construction on a large warehouse-looking building on the north end of Constitución, which caught my eye because I
hadn't seen it just 2 weeks ago. I wondered why the big building had a set-back off the hwy- parking lot?
I wouldn't have thought there would be the customer base to support a Walmart in Cd C.?
I don't want to get too excited yet, unless the rumor is that it will be Super Walmart selling food, meat, and a bakery.

There is a good Customer base within a 50 mile radius of Constitution. Youwould be surpised at the number of people working on Farms and Dairies.
If you turn South at Ejido Fresno and go about 6 miles there is a 1,000 Cow Dairy. That is just One of 5 Ejidos in that area.
Reports up here in the States is that Wal-mart is going to Start a Bunch of Small Stores. Interesting.

And Costco although my needs for the Brick and Mortar stores are withering. I've got it down now where I can buy most anything except frozen foods
online. Maybe I'll test that shortcoming at Ben and Jerry's . com.

You want to be very careful about which foods you buy on the Net.
Did you happen to see the info on the "China Chickin Wings".

According to the 2005 census Constitution had a population of 37,200. Plus San Carlos, Lopez Mateo and Insurgentes are right near-by. I'm sure the
Walmart people know how to do demographic studies by now.

Rumor control has a Walmart going in here in San Jose, too. They are clearing the land below the Ley's shopping center and just across from the bus
station.

I didn't see that one, Skeet, but I do remember the Sars epidemic when China had to kill about a trillion chickens. One would easily assume that
these dead birds would be disposed of, but I think they're still being sent to the states as pet food. "Wagin Train" chicken jerky is one example and
it isn't cheap.
Anyway...thanks, Skeet.

The plethora of abandon storefronts throughout Constitución must be misleading. Not just a few of them but many, many empty buildings are spread
throughout the town. I read an article recently that in the 1960's and 70's there were big prospects for the town and significant growth in population
and business. Then the economy fallout in the 80's had a drastic impact on the town that brought everything to a halt and many of the abandon
businesses are left from 20 yrs ago. But these are small abandon stores, not Walmart size.
Super Ley , EPS hardware, and lumber yards in Cd C seem to do good business. I've only been in Coppel and Elecktra a few times and there were a few
customers in there.
I agree I think they'd have customers from not only the surrounding nearby towns, but also Loreto and outlying towns even farther away such as ours.
I'm just suprised that Walmart may think the area is worthy.

Could it be a WalMart warehouse? They turn a lot of inventory and it could be shipped in through La Paz.

There are currently two WalMarts in BCS. Cabo and La Paz. In the case of San Jose, I suppose that if Soriana can support two stores in Los Cabos, so
should WalMart.
As for a store opening in Cd. Constitucion, I recall that over the years there have been a number of posts on this forum from folks in the Loreto
area, and in some cases, even Mulege, that have driven down to La Paz to shop. So, it would seem to me that a new WalMart at the North end of CC makes
abundant sense. Right now, there is really but a single supermarket in the area- Ley.

Ethanol!? The increase in corn will work its way up the chain, with resulting higher prices for meat, and stuff that uses corn sweetener.

business model on the nail head. When Sam Walton started out his plan was to work with U.S. manufacturers and create products that could compete with
foreign products. The billionaire children and board have changed that model to mostly cheap inferior products that must be bought over and over
again. They do business with countries of questionable human rights policies and in the case of China full blown occupation of sovereign Tibet killing
many of its people and destroying many of its ancient temples.
If you look at many of the products in Mexico they are made in Mexico, employing Mexican citizens supporting the Mexican economy. What happened to
the small businesses and manufacturing in the U.S. will surely have the same effect on local Mexican business and manufacturing. I enjoy my Mexican
durable products, doing business with local Mexican families and knowing that I am supporting the Mexican economy. Haven't these corporations done
enough damage to the U.S. economy and its people? Be good
to Mexico and its local merchants and tell Walmart I'll see them in hell.

But at least in Mexico there is government price control on tortillas! No so on corn, per se.

Dennis: The planting of Corn has increase 100 flod in the past couple of years due to WATER,Dairies being inticed to come here where now the Largest
Cheese Company in the World operates{Dalhart TX}. Even here close to Town the Farmers have stopped Wheat and Hay and going to Corn. Which is already
sucking down some peoples Wells.
I have many good friends in Constitution and they say it is boomin.
Ajarat Since you are talking about Killing People in various Countries, Why do not you get your Buddies in Mexico to stop shipping DOPE to the States!
It is killing our Children!!!
