Ken,

Congrats to you for the article and the showing. You are an artist! How long will the exhibit be showing, sorry if I missed that in the article? (haven't finished my first cup of java)

Thanks very much Ken. The timing is a little tentative right now but we think the pictures will be on display for about two months (we will hang them in early December).

Well...here's how it happens...............Years back, Market Basket in Newport Beach would let their carts stray all over the neighborhood [no homeless then, I guess] and a few marooons would just go out and wheel one of those carts out to their dock. They would wire up the big flap at the rear of the cart and build a fire in the basket. When the heat was right, they would barbeque on the wired-up grill and when they were done, shove the cart into the bay.

I didn't do this.

Ken,
Dern and I were excited to see you front and center on the front page of this mornings Tribune, way to go! Perfect timing with the "clean up" that just happened. I'm curious to see if there will be a rebuttal from a certain dive shop owner.
We're saving our copy for your autograph! Would love to meet you at The Rock for coffee soon. Jason also had the paper out in his shop this morning when we stopped in for coffee. I think he was impressed to see you and Gary in the paper as well.
The two of you have done a wonderful job educating our community on the treasures that live below our waters.
Thank you!

Thanks so much, once again, for your support Paulina. And thanks for introducing us to the Rock, coffee will never be the same :) We love it! We will be in MB December 7/8 for dives and we are planning to hang our photos for the next exhibit at the Museum on the afternoon of the 7th. Hope to see you and Dern next month.

ooh, great to see this, and hope that many of us Nomads can make it over to see the exhibit.

You're absolutely correct-- its a drag to know the oceans are full of junk that we've discarded, but as a diver I know that water critters are quick to turn this weird stuff into condos.

I once found a perfectly good snorkel and carried it around the whole dive in my bathing suit only to have an octopus fall out when I got on land! I've also found octopus lairs and they fill it will all kinds of things they find while they're out prowling around.

Any more, I only pick up "freshly-dropped junk" that has no barnacles on it and I examine it carefully before removing it from its locale. If there's an "Occupied" sign on the window, I put that house back exactly where I found it.

i'd like one then i could dive cold water.
i hate wet suits anytime.
how much do they run and are they added buoyancy?

Thanks mike. Mine is a DUI TLS350, it runs about $3000 with their underwear and rock boots, muy caro but I absolutely love it. Eliminates cold as any factor, and they are extremely comfortable. They definitely add bouyancy, because part of the insulation is air you inject into the suit. So you are swimming around with a big bubble. They roughly double the amount of weight you need with a 7mm wetsuit. I carry 40#, but it's not a big deal because we don't swim very much :).

Thanks Mulegena. We take some heat in the Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo area because we point out that the marine life adapts to the discarded human junk and uses it beneficially for habitat. People misinterpret that and think we advocate littering. Totally untrue. We simply document what is already there.
