Western Hemisphere grown "terrorists" for sure.

If only we could convince the Middle East Jihadists that these cartel crazies were anti-muslim-------------problem solved. :light:

Ever post positive news links?

Here....so we stop bashing Baja / Mexico with all this junk crime reports being posted:

There are approximately 1 million gang members belonging to more than 20,000 different gangs who are also criminally active within all 50 states and the District of Columbia as of September 2008, according to an FBI report (http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/publications).

thanks McFez...seriously, do y'all live in a bubble in the US or what? Like this isn't happening a million times over in your own backyard? Even in my small town (2500 residents) people are murdered...in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, to boot! Acts of violence are not isolated in foreign countries, mis amigos. A man was beheaded here not long ago in a horrific crime of passion. Think it's not happening? Wake up! How much gang violence occurs in LA? DC? Compton? Phoenix? Detroit? Name a city...come on...I get enough fear driven media shoved in my face...I don't need it here, too.

Hmmmmmmmmm, now THAT is an interesting "take". So when was the last time in the USA that you encountered this degree of violence that is going on in Mexico, granted mostly along the border with us? Me???? NEVER!!!!!! and I lived within 11 miles of the border for 43 years (El Centro & San Diego)

I have lived in CA for some 70+ years, both north and south, and have NEVER, I repeat NEVER, had so much as something stolen from me, let alone felt my life threatened!!! Just very lucky, I guess.

Personally I would much rather be informed, than not, so I welcome this info in order to remain "aware" of what is going on-------I believe to do otherwise is tantamount to "head in sand" mentality.

But, to each his/her own!!

Most of the Drug cartel issues are not in TJ.....rather off the Texas / Arizona lines. I said most.

Never had anything stolen / threatened / nada in 70 + years? Wow! Living in Mum's cellar all this time? May I move in with you and read Nancy Drew novels?

East Los Angeles ...Mu buddy Vega lives there.
South Fresno....I do a little business in that town.
South Sacramento...get my fish n chips there.
San Francisco/Mission District - zoo at night.

Do I see stuff? I see Gang members. Dope ya. I see decay. I see less in Baja. Much less. I get around a lot. A lot. Folks here that keep blasting the "end of the world" stuff over and over..yet post nothing positive...has issues within themselves. You want the update on the crimes of Mexico...then go to a news site...not from some drama queen second hand new accounts from Nancy Drew!

I dont sit in my easy chair watching The Lawrence Welk Show as some Pops on this BN do....and dream up responses of little value. Buy hey....the FBI is just making up these numbers right?

Funny- I haven't seen any end of the world predictions posted here...only some crime statistics that check out pretty accurately. I have no plans to change my Baja travel, and have never ever had any problem on either side of the border and always take necessary precautions. If your afraid to look at statistics and wail about how crime is just as bad in the US, you are on a fools errand. There is no comparison, and the issue is not even worth arguing. Anyone planning to travel in Baja has a right to know what the odds are and on this board you will get information from both extremes and can sort out the average yourself. Just as in the US, there are areas in Baja and the rest of Mexico to avoid.
Just don't be led to wear your rose colored glasses by the tough talkers here who claim to have all the worldly experience wallowing around in the US ghettos.
