Béisbol Para Niños

On Sunday, the Bahia Asuncion youngest béisbol team swept a double header against Abreojos.

Just some fun shots from the game.

OK, where is that strike zone?

But the pitcher gave it his all

This young one made contact!

And always go full out headed for First Base

OK, where did that one go?

Waiting for that throw to Second Base

Here comes another runner and the official to make the call

I have it, I have it

Yes, I got it

Opps

Great throw.

The Battle for Third Base

SAFE! Or at least called safe.

A different style

Does he take his job seriously?

Yes, he does!

And the BEST T-Shirts!

And very important---the managers, Chico and Sergio

Thanks for looking ----

Diana y John

Edited to take the name Little League out----name was used in error with no intent to misuse the Registered name.

They've got some nice uniforms...

I'd actually like to see "Little League" down the peninsula. Right now I believe the organization itself is only officially represented in the Tijuana and Mexicali areas.

If anyone knows more, please advise.

Thank you for sharing these fun pics. :)

They have better uniforms than the older kids! From what we have been told, they receive support from the coops and some uniforms have business names on them and the panels on the fence have names of sponsoring businesses and families.

Official Little League? We don't think so ---so since it is a registered name, we will change it to not make any false and misleading references.

Little Champs they are---and this photo is courtesy of the social security rep from one of the coops.

Sorry for the misuse of the name.

Thanks Nena,

While at times I enjoy major league baseball, I always find the kids more fun---lots of wild happenings.

No doubt. Not only are the uniform shirts high-quality, but they also have the "stylin'" baggy full-length pants - and that catcher's wearing top-of-the-line gear.

Sorry for the misuse of the name.
I hope it didn't come across that I was reprimanding you - certainly not intended that way. I have a huge interest in learning more about what's going on with youth baseball down the peninsula - and was recently looking at how far "Little League" itself was represented throughout Mexico. Overall, I do like the LL organization for many reasons.

So, your pics were of great interest to me. Thank you for posting! :)

I'm pretty sure Little League is alive and well in Ensenada.
Aside from that, years ago, there was a guy who would walk through the Beachcamps, gringo territory, wearing a baseball jersey, a cap and a clipboard taking donations for Little League.
Later in the day you would see him at the foreign book betting the horses, still in his baseball garb.

Oh well.........

Doug,
As you know, baseball is BIG in Baja, so even in our town it receives more backing than any of the other sports. But we are just learning more about it around there----I love youth baseball and we and others wanted to start including them on the Community Web Site----

They seem to follow the age requirements of the official Little League. The youngest team is from 9 to 12. Then there are is the team from 13-15 and then the Prepa team from 15-19. But after you mentioned, Little League, we realized that it is a registered name and we went back and changed the Bahia Asuncion Web Page---using that name could upset someone.

On Sunday the Prepa team was playing Guerrero Negro and while we were more interested in watching the young team, we did take a couple of pictures.

This is what we mean about the uniforms! Notice that these Prepa teams have no consistency in their uniforms at all.

If the Delegado had not told us they were playing Guerrero Negro, we would have had no idea who they were playing. Neither team had a full set of uniforms.

As we find out more information about this youth baseball, we will let you know.

Dennis, sounds like that gut was a very intelligent person---he had a way to double and triple all those donations.

Unfortunately, we had to leave for a short time but hope to make it back before the finals.

We know they are divided into some type of leagues---the teams in the league the little guys play are from:

Bahia Asuncion
Tortugas
Abreojos
San Ignacio
Guerrero Negro

Curious, would there be any advantage to these groups becoming involved with the official Little League?
