Another new ride for Baja off road (moto)

Seeing TW's post about his new ride made me want to share mine but not wanting to hijack his thread I decided to start a new one.

Here's my new ride, this photo was taken a few weeks ago in New Mexico. I was getting it outfitted for Baja and putting in a few miles. My son will be bringing it to Ensenada the end of December and we will be doing a 10 day Baja adventure ride. I will be bringing the bike home with me (Buena Vista) and look forward to hooking up with some riders down here.

If you are a rider in Southern Baja lets go ride. I don't know any local trails or routes yet so please help me out.

How about your bikes, UTV's, quads etc. Lets see some pictures......

I know you can't tell but I promise that's really me in the picture.....dt

Nice KTM! Here's mine. Well, I've paid for it, but it hasn't arrived just yet. 950 Super Enduro. Plan on building the ultimate Baja ride. Can't wait to try it down there and dispel the rumor that KTM stands for Kan't Take Mexico

Sweet ride De, a friend of mine has one and loves it....he buys rear tires by the "six pack".

I thought KTM stood for "kick ten minutes"....hope it isn't true, mine is electric start only. As for "kant take Mexico", we've been racing the Baja 500 and 1000 since 2007 (pro class last 2 years) and finished every race....have had to kick it a few times though...dt

some good info here http://www.advrider.com/forums/index.php

We definitely need to meet up down there. Prolly not making it this year though (now dead-to-me in-laws just sold their place in San Jose del Cabo in lieu of selling their place in Matz. -At least they regret it). Was thinking I might have the bike dialed for Baja by late Spring, but my usual riding buddy hasn't picked out his next ride yet (due to '68 Bronco ground-up resto and roofing project costs).

What has been your weapon of choice for the races? 530? I've wondered how my 505 XC-F would do (if I could get a bigger tank for it).

Yes, 530. Sometimes 450 for pre running, depends on what is available.

Be sure to let me know when you firm up your Baja ride plans......dt

DT,
I will miss the invitation this trip....I will be riding between San Ignacio and only as far south as Constitucion....saturating that part of Baja this trip zig-zagging from coast -to-coast over about 10 riding days...doing the other 50% of roads I haven't been on yet and a few I have...

ATGATT ;D

Well, that's not really what I meant but I can see how it could be misconstrued......He'd have to have a broken femur for me to get up close and personal with his legs.......or be kinda cute.......or me be kinda drunk.....uhhh, never mind, I didn't get much sleep either:lol::lol::lol:

Great looking bike dt. I'm down to just one bike now, a 2004 Honda XR250. Setup great for me, especially the lower seat. 4 gallon desert tank, scotts stabilizer, lowering link and new seat foam with gripper seat cover, had the stator rewound for more light output. My only problem is I ride less and less these days and spend more and more time in the 4x4s.

We're an XR family.

2001 XR70, 2001 XR100, 2002 XR400, 2006 CRF450.
I've never bought a "new" bike but I'm sure getting good at fixing these .

Maybe someday .... that is a NICE KTM !!

I'm in BV now, will be traveling back down from Ensenada after our ride with the bike around the 6th or 7th of January and plan to be here (BV) until mid Summer.

Jill and I will probably try to go up to Asuncion in January to do some camping, fishing and exploring.

What about you and Bia, any Baja trips planned?

she likes the warmer season=fish. my buddy and i have 2-3 trips carved out of the work schedule. he's a knuckle dragger (snowboarder) and has a place in utah so that is part of the mix. we just need Neptune to oblige us between now and the next 2.5 months.

maybe our paths will cross out there.....
