Neighbor found bound, gagged and murdered in Rosarito. (Updated: 2 suspects apprehended, photos of murderers)
It's always sad when this stuff happens. A neighbor of mine named Jay was found beaten to death in his house this morning. He was bound hand and
foot and his mouth taped. His house had been robbed. A shaved head "cholo-type" was driving his car around the past day or so- who is the main
suspect I would guess. The police took his body away this morning in a SEMFO van. They are searching the whole property and have the yellow tape
around it. Jay was a US Citizen from Puerto Rico and worked for the telephone company stateside. We last waved hello to him on Friday. I guess it was
also a goodbye wave. His little Chihuahua is still roaming around the yard looking for him I guess. Very sad.

Terrible news, Woooosh. Sorry to hear this.
Hard to figure...the prime suspect is driving around town in his car with seemingly no fear of apprehension.
Is there anybody to take care of his dog?

So sad to hear of this. This is just going to add more wood to the fire as far as our media sensationalizing crime in Mexico.
Did Jay live alone? What part of Rosarito?

The dog is still in the yard. The gates are sealed by the PGJE though. The police towed his other car. I'll throw some kibble through the fence the
dog gets some food. He lived alone. I never got into his personal life in our curbside conversations- so don't know about him having any local
family to take care of the dog. I went over to take some pics and the dog was barking up a storm at me. My nephew even saw the guy driving the car
over the weekend. The car is still missing as far as I know.
This is a learning opportunity, especially in light of the Cables. I know this murder happened. Jay was a Puerto Rican working for the telephone
company in the USA. Most likely a US citizen. Let's watch for any published news and see if ANYONE at all reports this. That will tell us if we're
still being treated like mushrooms here.

I am so sorry for this horrible thing that happened to your neighbor.
I hope that the authorities will swiftly bring the person(s) to justice.

It has to be reported to the US Consolate, at least.

Just me musing. Seems that Woooosh had a perfunctory relationship with this guy. Gotta wonder what his real story was. Can't imagine living in
Rosarito and having a full time job NOB. Really long commute. The Puerto Rican thing. Did he have an accent? Could it have been a cover story? Just
thinking out loud.

Yeah, that would refreshing for a change. I don't know the percentage of people who commute to work from Rosarito Beach to San Diego but it is high,
and definitely not unusual or out of the ordinary. The neighborhood is called Villas del Mar in central downtown Rosarito. If you were to take the
4th Rosarito exit (the newer one after the McDonalds exit with the PeMex gas station and Jersey Lechera plastic cows) and stayed on it west to the
water- you cross the main blvd (Benito Juarez) at the light and be on Via de Las Olas and pass by his house. He lived about twenty houses from the
water. This is a neighbor I was friendly with, not a personal friend. He was a friend, brother and son to someone who loved him though.

Dennis! No it was sh*tbox as they say back east. He had a "For Sale" sign on the house, then switched to a "For Rent" sign. The car they towed had
a For Sale message soaped in the back window. Looks like he was trying to get out of town, it just wasn't going fast enough. Damned real estate
market. He was hanged inside his house, so it wasn't a simple robbery. It wasn't drugs or something narco-related or the big-gun police like the
State Police or Marinos would have been there. All he got was the PGJE and the Tourist police. Oh yeah, and local Rosarito Cable TV54.

I wonder how long it will take for someone to suggest this guy was into drugs.

They are. It was the Tourist Police presence I thought was weak.

Just how does one "sensationalize" a murder? It's pretty sensational all by itself.
Something like 26,000 and counting since 2006.
If anything, the world is becoming desensitized to murder in Mexico.

I just finished watching the six-o'clock Tijuana news and there was no mention of this incident. Some joker asked here why would anyone live in
Rosarito and commute to the states....because Rosarito is a damn nice place to live!!
