Cabo San Lucas bound looking for some info
Driving from Vancouver BC, to Cabo San Lucas, can anyone suggest places to see along the Baja. maybe a good place to stay, eat. Or something that is a
must? We will be crossing around the 20th of December 2010 Have lots of time. Will be crossing on ferry from
La Paz to Mazatlan.
Any comments or suggestions would be good

Maybe you mean Mazatlan to La Paz? Somewhat confused, in that unless you are actually headed N/B on the ferry. There's not a huge number of places to
suggest between La Paz and Cabo. A few.

Maybe you mean Mazatlan to La Paz? Somewhat confused, in that unless you are actually headed N/B on the ferry. There's not a huge number of places to
suggest between La Paz and Cabo. A few.
We will be crossing over in Otay Mesa then driving south down the Baja to Cabo. Then we will be crossing over to the mainland to Mazatlan then
traveling inland to Leon,GTO.

We ate 2x last week at Mallirimos and the scallops are out of season-the tuna, grouper and fish stew were outstanding

How about any good hotels to stay at? Also anyone know of safe mountain biking trails to ride along the way?

Stay at the Desert Inn in Catavinia for some awesome mountain biking on desert trails.
Stop at Bahia Asuncion and see Shari for a rental - also awesome mountain biking trails.
Stop at Casa Verde B&B in La Ventana - also great local mountain biking.
The list goes on .....

BTW, the folks at Casa Verde are from Wa State and many of their guests will be bikers and sailors from the northwest. You will definitely find
someone to ride with !

Baja Joes in La Ventana is a bit more basic but also nice.
La Bocana and San Ignacio also have local bike teams so probably good trails.
See Bianca in La Bocana for a rental and try Ignacio Springs B&B in San Ignacio.
The B&B has fully furnished, cozy yurts and a great breakfast; right on the river.

You might want to consider an overnight and a day at Posada on Concepcion Bay 12 miles south of Mulege. Nice accomodations, hot springs, and kayaking.

Not to be a grinch, but if you spent about an hour searching the various forum files ("Accommodations", "Restaurants", etc.), you will likely find
more information than you will get in replies to your post. Tons of info in past forum message threads.

Yes you are right and I have been checking other forums, and getting lots of info, but it doesn't hurt to get some interaction with other people on
here. The more information I can acquire beforehand the better. thanks for all your replies and have a great holiday season.

Yes, ate at Malarrimo last week and the sea scallops were out of season. But I grovelled a bit and they managed to make up an order for me!  Delicious! Bay scallops are still on the menu.

Canucks own the San Ignacio Springs spot mentioned above...I'm sure they'll treat you right! Homemade jam/jelly for breakfast, on the home-baked
bread!

Was wondering just how much time you had, and if perhaps, you had a time share in Cabo.
I note that some of the suggestions that have been made focus on your interest in mountain biking. My experience is that some of the nicer hotels and
restaurants may not be convenient to the best biking. So, it's a matter of priorities.
Baja Cactus has already been mentioned as a great place to stay. I would also recommend Hotel Jardines de Baja in San Quintin, which also has an
excellent restaurant.
In Guerrero Negro, it has been mentioned that Malarrimo has good food. Both Hotel Cowboy and Hotel Caracoles have good accommodations.
In Santa Rosalia, Hotel Frances and El Morro are good.
If you find yourself staying in La Paz, do not miss having dinner at Restaurant Tres Virgenes, owned by a Nomad, and perhaps among the best on the
peninsula.

Fantastic information everyone. We will have till the beginning of the new year before we have to be over to the mainland. I will have my bike with me
and I would like to go for some afternoon rides. I am getting excited about driving the Baja as I have only driven through the mainland before, I
should add that my girl is Mexican as well, and if any of the people that we meet along the way are even half as nice as she is(I bet they are) I'm
sure that we will have a great time.

What sort of car r u driving?
A cruising of the Sea of Cortez is a must. Swing into
Bay of Los Angeles
