Road paved ALL the way into Asuncion now!!!

I have been waiting a long time to finally make this post... as of three days ago you can drive all the way into Asuncion on the newly paved road!!!! Life as we know it will never be the same...this will greatly improve the quality of life for the vehicles here and cut down on travel time and expense for locals who have to go "out" for appointments and supplies.

I know it will be a mixed blessing...progress is like that...I try to think...good roads....more good people....fewer car repairs.

Hi Shari,
How long does it take to drive it from the Hwy?

Shari, I hope they did a good job and made it thick. When they first paved the road south of San Felipe it was about 1/4 inch thick and was worse than ever about 6 months later.

Hey Shari, Shelley wanted to know how the section of road is between Vizcaino and the BA turnoff, it still had quite a few potholes when we left there in November. How is Izaak? His little buddy Will is doing great, he's in the 95th percentile for height and the 70th percentile for weight - maybe a future basketball star?
Gabriel: You can drive the entire section in 75 minutes, but I would allow at least 90 to be on the safe side.

oh I highly doubt they did a good job...most likely a thin coat of pavement which seems to be the norm...cosmetics are everything!
I'm sure there will be more accidents now because people will drive it WAAAY toooo fast and there are some curves that take you by surprise..so do be carefull and drive slow and enjoy the scenery. There are no signs for curves up yet...already had 2 accidents this week.
most people drive in in a little over an hour.
